I've read posts about men saying that height is a big game changer and now that there are also trans men I think it's more important to dicuss it. Can we change the way that people look at short men? Like find them attractive?
PS: I'm not a giant myself I'm like 168cm but height had zero to no effect in my life.

Many short girls are simply worried about having short children, so look for tall guys. Their logic is that (High = good genes, Low = bad genes) Being tall clearly gives them advantages in life and many of them want their children to have that advantage. On r / short in the past there were several girls who had expressed similar opinions, namely that they were afraid of having short children and therefore had a height requirement for boyfriend/husband.

In most cases it means that the guy must be at least at his height
Being short is socially a female characteristic, which is why short girls are preferred in most cases.

Because men are particularly penalized if their insecurities are directly related to their feelings of masculinity. There is not a lot of sympathy for the men (and boys) who are struggling with their sense of self and their place in the world. There is a general attitude that men are too "privileged" to have those problems, and it is often dismissed as no problem or worse.

I don't think there is a physical characteristic comparable to height, it is not a simple canon of beauty.
Many women have a serious problem with shorter guys, it's not a simple preference (in most cases it's a must). Short men are seen by many (not all) women as weak and too feminine (evidently it is wrong for men to have "feminine characteristics").
Being short for many people is a trait that only has to be feminine, if you are shorter than a girl you are likely to question her femininity (reminds me of many feminists screaming at male frailty but in this case that's okay).
I have read independent and strong women several times but having a height requirement so they can feel a little feminine (being independent and strong is too masculine, so you have to balance the situation a bit with a guy who makes them feel smaller).
Many shorter girls make me laugh because they actively seek a taller boy so they can have tall children, they see being short only as a genetic defect (Tall = good gene, Short = bad gene).
Bisexual girls also seem to prefer taller men while this requirement is non-existent for girls.
It is also not uncommon for a girl to be judged for choosing a shorter guy by friends and family.
I don't remember such a generalized preference having so many implications for gender roles.
Many times I have read that the comparison between height and eye or hair color but it makes no sense.
Most males will not feel uncomfortable or perceive their "masculinity" undermined by a girl with short black hair. There are certainly men who feel threatened by a taller girl but most will not mind, this seems to me to be mainly a female problem.
Most of the cases it is enough to be taller than the girls, if you are shorter than the female average things will be much more difficult but not impossible. However I am noticing an improvement going on, compared to 10/15 years ago it is more common to find couples where the man is at the same height or even shorter than the girl.

I have noticed it too but in most cases it is problems shared by men too (like being treated differently, not being taken seriously ...), other times it is simple jealousy towards taller girls (legs, models ...) but socially their problems are not comparable to those of men because society sees short stature as a female characteristic.
I think the internet has taken this dynamic to an extreme, probably from 5.10 feet you won't have big problems in most cases. 5.8 - 5.9 feet you will encounter problems but there will still be many women who will not have problems. 5.5 - 5.7 feet becomes more difficult but you can do something, also because you remain taller than the female average. 5.4 <feet gets really hard, for most (not all) women you will be literally invisible on a love / sexual level. They won't give you a chance just for your height. But it is not impossible to find someone but you will encounter a lot of difficulties.
Seriously as long as you are taller than the average female you will be able to do something (obviously the taller you are the easier it is), but when you are shorter than the girls then it becomes really difficult. They can't get over this gender role. Many girls can't even contemplate being taller in the couple (too masculine trait for them).
