There's a reason r/FeminismUncensored exists. Feminist subs are notoriously censorious and ban-happy.

AskFeminists only allows non-feminists to ask questions, not answer. I suppose that's somewhat fair. You wouldn't want non-Americans answering over at r/AskAnAmerican. You post in MensRights, so the assumption is you're not a feminist, ergo you have no business commenting.

What's not so forgivable is how they limit the the kind of answers that can be given to whatever the founders decided is the "correct" feminist position. Rule 9 is a good case in point. It codifies a certain, by no means universal, feminist narrative about sex work. Then they ban anyone for being insufficiently anti-sex work for the mods' liking, including lots of feminist sex workers.

I mean seriously, here you are saying you actually AGREE with them, and that you don't like the term, and they banned you. I guess because you pointed out that other countries do use it, I guess? You're just supplying factual information at that point. If you ever get another chance, post a dictionary definition and see if they ban you for that. It would be a fun experiment. My money is on yes.

While I wouldn't go so far as to call this fascism (authoritarian might be more apt) its still very discouraging that such an innocuous response would be met with an outright permaban. How does this relate to men's issues though?

Seems odd that they would ask an open-ended question and then get upset by a reasonable response to the open-ended question. It's almost like they just wanted someone to come over and jerk them off about how right they are instead of actually getting people's opinions on something.

Just from the purely sociolinguistic side, btw, it’s not as simple as that: it’s still very much a rude word by default in the UK and Australia. But it’s considered not quite as rude (maybe on the level of ‘fuck’ rather than beyond it as in the U.S.), and used by a subset of the population more affectionately. It’s 100% not universally considered an affectionate term first, and it’s entirely consensual. Go up to some posh Brit or older or even young but middle class Aussie - even one you know - and say “Hi, cunt” and they’ll still likely hit you or want to.

As an Australian, I can say that the whole thing about the ‘c word’ being common and inoffensive is a bit of a wind up. Sometimes a couple of close male friends might greet each other as ‘how ya goin’ cunt?’ as banter but it’s definitely not considered polite, and definitely not used in my social circles. Affectionate insults in general are pretty common in Australian vernacular. Things along the lines of saying ‘Good to see you, you old bastard’ or ‘how are you going, cock?’ But it’s about context. The c word is considered harsh and crass if you’re using it to describe genitalia.

This is a hilariously incorrect use of the term "fascism". You using "fascism" to describe getting banned from a subreddit (not even a large one!) is essentially devaluing the word.

I've never really actually browsed that subreddit. But I have to hold myself back from engaging because I feel like I will be perma-banned on my very first comment.

Especially because someone brought up the topic of men's vs women's clothing options. And it appears the person posting was smacked in every direction for suggesting such a thing.

Its not entirely true about the uk, it can be a friendly term for a close friend, not an acquaintance and its pretty much considered the rudest word there is and as with everything context matters
