Many feminists complain of men who "fetishize" Asian women or men who exclusively date Asian women. The problem with this is, you can't fetishize Asian women. A fetish is a sexual fixation on a non-genital body part or inanimate object. As a result, Asian women cannot be a fetish. The word "fetishize" should not be used because it suggests Asian women can be a fetish. If they aren't an object or non-genital body part, they're not a fetish. Men do not have an obsession with Asian women.

The vast majority of men who have dated an Asian woman have also dated their own race.

According to Gallup in June 2005, when asking Americans about race in terms of dating, 99% of white men said they've dated their own race before, compared to 96% of white women. Only 27% of the white men said they've dated an Asian woman before, compared to just 9% of white women. This means virtually all white men who dated an Asian woman have dated white women. 25% of the white men and 24% of white women said they've dated a black person before, and 30% of white men and 28% of white women had dated a Hispanic before. When looking at black men, 97% of them have dated a black woman, compared to 94% of black women. Only 24% of black men dated an Asian before, so virtually all of them who dated an Asian woman have also dated black women. In fact, black men were more likely to have dated a white woman (56%) or a Hispanic woman (40%). Only 3% of black women have dated an Asian guy, 18% of them dated a Hispanic guy and 35% dated a white guy. Hispanics were less likely to have dated their own race before, but the vast majority have. A majority (but not a vast majority), however, have also dated interracially whereas 55% of the white people never did. 86% of Hispanic men and 81% of Hispanic women have dated a Hispanic, 31% of Hispanic guys and just 8% of Hispanic women have dated an Asian (which means most Hispanic guys who dated Asian women have dated their own race), 69% of Hispanic men and 60% of Hispanic women have dated a white person, and 39% of Hispanic men and 29% of Hispanic women have dated a black person.

Men don't necessarily find Asian women the most attractive, but when they do, they often find white and Latina women very attractive. Women, on the other hand, often find white men the most attractive, including women of color.

According to OkCupid data, almost 75% of white men find white women the most attractive. Almost 15% admittedly find Asian women the most attractive, but these same men probably still find non-Asian women very attractive, too. Almost 10% of them found Latina women the most attractive, and hardly any found black women the most attractive. Unless a man was Asian (or something close like Pacific Islander), most men did not find Asian women the most attractive. Hell, only a little over 10% of Hispanic men and black men found Asian women the most attractive.

Most women of each race found white men the most attractive, including Asian women. Black women were an exception, but even slightly over 40% of them found white men the most attractive. Many men of each race found white women the most attractive, but many still found their own race attractive. They were not as likely as women of their race to find white people the most attractive.

Now some evidence does show that men often find Asian women more attractive than other races, but they often find white and Latina women very attractive, too. Many times, they find them just as attractive. Women, on the other hand, even women of color, find white men the most attractive.

This does show that men find Asian women the most desirable, whereas women find white men the most desirable.

Asian women appear to be viewed as equally attractive as Latina women or white women. Men who rate Asian women far more attractive are outliers, which is why Asian women can get higher rating in a less full picture. Black women, however, are seen as less attractive.

Other evidence has shown that white men have far more dating desirability than men of any race, whereas white and Latina women have slightly less desirability as Asian women, but almost as much desirability as Asian women.

Women obsess over white men more than men obsess over Asian women.

There's lots of evidence of this. On OkCupid, white men receive the most replies to their messages from women compared to other men, and Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern, black and Latino men receive the least. Even many women of color did not reply much to their own race. Women, however, often received high amounts of replies from men upon sending men messages regardless of race. This was true for all women except black women, who received less replies than other women did but more so than any race of men, even white men. In fact, 40% of the men said they would strongly prefer to date their own race, compared to 54% of white women. In fact, in general, women were more likely than men to strongly prefer their own race, except for Asian women versus Asian men, given that many Asian women find white men more attractive.

A 2011 study found that women were more likely than men to have a racial preference with dating. Many men did have a preference but many didn't. Most women did. Almost 30% of Asian women refused to date Asian men, including 40% of Asian women with a preference (73.13% of the Asian women had a preference). Most women excluded Asians, Indians and Middle Easterners. Many men excluded them, too, but not as often. Some men did exclude Asian women, and a smaller minority of non-white men excluded white women, whereas not many Asian women excluded white men. Black women were the ones who often excluded white men. White women were the most racially selective, and many only wanted white men, including 65.44% of white women with a preference and almost half of all the white women.

Conclusion

While I'm not trying to start some race argument, we need to rid of this idea that men have an obsession with Asian women. They don't particularly have a disproportionate interest in Asian women, but women often do have a disproportionate interest in white men, including some Asian women. That's far more common. I do believe that it's wrong to demonize people for their racial preferences with dating though, and I don't think it's okay to condemn someone for finding a certain race more attractive. We can't choose or control who we're attracted to and race has a big effect on one's looks, but this idea that men are obsessed with Asian women could be true sometimes, but isn't as common as feminists suggest.
