this is 100 percent absolutely me at the moment. Seeing the comic and reading the comments made me completely break down.

Sorry man. There is hope. Keep fighting.

[–]Funny_Wolverine_9 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's also me. Scary how accurate it is.

[–]AcrobaticStick2432 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Accurate even to the point of skin colors 🤡

[–]Jbr74 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am going to point out all of the differences between my experience and this meme below this line.

[–]JohnnyMnemo 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My only difference was that ex was romanced by girls instead of another dude.

I think it's because it's easier for her to get attention from girls than guys, essentially.

Oh shit, reading some of the comments - sad stuff.

[–]CRobinsFly 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I liked the ones that immediately jumped to trying to shame you if you think it's an accurate representation of the experience of a lot of men.

It's always a man's fault.

"If this upsets you, you're an incel". "Man up and accept she doesnt want you anymore." "Fight for your kids"

[–]FineTransition96 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Jup, for real - but you know what... I really did "man up". I accepted it, moved on with my life, have a nice time with my kids (every other week) and generally am pretty content - actually happy. So the first few panels are accurate AF - if she had an affair I don't know. She just went on to "find herself". The key is certainly to not just mope and drink... for a time I did that of course, but now my life is slowly imroving to the point where its already better than before the divorce.

Fuck em, what do they know about the average experience of a man/dad who is getting divorced by some ungrateful, bored broad after having given everything - just as in the comic strip: wedding, kids, house, bad-mouthig to friends/family, divorce 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]wisstinks4 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with the infographic story. It has nothing to do with manning up. It has to do with a broken legal system that hoses every guy that’s married to a battle ax for a wife and she just wants to rip himoff. We are not the ATM! Show some love and respect.

Collective hug to all my brothers… this hits too close to home.

[–]throwsadaccountxxx 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Jeez it's so accurate.
Nearly 2 years reading stuffs on r/dirvorce here and groups, my story, so many stories actually are all that same shitshow. I laughed and felt sad at the same time.

[–]NreoDarknight21 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Honestly, I think in the 21st century, guys should not get married IMO. I see more cons than pros in this day and age despite with medical professionals state. People are just too tempted to cheat and with the advancements in tech, it has become alot easier to do so and hide it.

[–]dannywizkid 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Damn, my life in pictures

[–]dukemcrae 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Does anybody have a link to a higher quality version of this image? I’m going to bloody well frame it.

[–]sbarrowski 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks so much for sharing this. I saw it several months ago, knowing I would eventually come home to an empty house. Last month I was officially dumped, and this is terribly accurate except thank God both kids are in their 20s.

[–]sbarrowski 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I couldn’t remember what the meme was called and couldn’t find it. It sums up perfectly what so many of us have to go through. Thanks again for posting.

As a woman who knows this is a reality for most divorced men, I'm not feeling very much pity for my stbx who chose this path for himself. I didn't cheat, he did, so why does he expect my sympathy? Honest question.

I should also mention I didn't yell or nag him. If anyone did, it was him. I didn't ask him to do anything because I wasn't willing to fight with him.

[–]Alatornio 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

So you were perfection is what you are saying.

[–]YouPerturbMySoul 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Not at all. I hated my life and I didn't show him the affection I'm sure he wanted, but didn't speak on. I was too busy keeping things together to care. I also stopped taking care of myself because I was caring for everyone else. He'd also spent years telling me I was annoying for trying to be too affectionate, so I assumed he was ok without it. There was a huge lack of communication on both our parts. It wasn't ideal, but at least I was trying. I was just trying to pour from an empty cup and I don't think he realized that.

Edit: I should probably add, I came off annoyed a lot because he expected me to take care of him like his mother did.

[–]georeddit2018[S] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Accountability is almost impossible im today's women. I commend you.

[–]YouPerturbMySoul 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I know my faults. Even though I didn't yell, nag, and scream I still know I had a part to play. It's unfortunate.

He's always told me that relationships are supposed to just work, so I always felt like I was doing more than I should and it translated into my attitude towards him... not the best way of me to handle it.

I have grown a lot since even before the separation, but I don't think I should pity him because it was ultimately his choice. He cheated, was vile about it, didn't give me any indication it was coming, a say, an opportunity to fix it, or even to work on it. I also bought him thousands of dollars worth of things for his new place so that he and the kids, when they're there, could be comfortable.

[–]AcrobaticStick2432 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You sure have your share of fault, so do I, as all of us here, both men and women.

But your ex is a cheater and cheaters deserve no pity, fuck him, he's now at best a stranger and at worst your enemy.

And as a man I'm actually glad to see you holding yourself accountable - that's a rare sight in women.

[–]YouPerturbMySoul 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. Everybody has to try in a relationship. I have learned that communication is extremely important.

That's why I'm having a hard time lately. He has a lot of expectations of me and Im questioning my boundaries with him now. He's expecting me to give him diapers and essentially everything he needs to take care of the kids, but I don't feel like it's my responsibility to do that and he is the one that chose this.

Thanks. I learned a long time ago to just take responsibility for things. It makes life a lot easier for sure.
