I was you three years ago. She kept mentioning it, so I had a favorable settlement in her favor drawn. When she finally computed dissolution of marriage, she freaked out. All of a sudden, all the narratives about me being a bad husband stopped.

I think my wife was smart enough to do the math. After twenty years, the numbers stay the same. I decided to stay. Kids are almost grown, so we can revisit in three years. I still remember the look on her face when I told her that I loved her, but I didn't need her. I think my wife was trying to modify my behavior. I was raised not to put up with bullshit. All of her divorced friends husband's husbands were push-overs.

Women are using divorce as a punishment. If they want Tinder in their forties and fifties; let them enjoy the ride. I have a friend who says the prettier a single mother is the faster you ghost them.

I was in the same boat and filed during her limbo bullshit. She just didn’t want to be seen as the “bad guy.” She cares so much about her image. Somehow convinced her friends/family that she didn’t bang some other dude while we were married too.

Edit: I’ll add - it’s totally normal to be scared and hurt and whatever else you’re feeling. We all were. But you’re going to be ok, mate and not only will you be ok, you’re going to come out of the fire a new and improved version of yourself. Iron forges iron
