I recently wondered the same thing.

I've looked at the HVM in my life and none of them even know of Reddit....

I'd say yes, it is a denser culmination of the lowest 30% of our society, for sure.

But also a big enough portion of the 30-60% of society - which are still not stellar people if you know what I mean? Not as bad as the 0-30% who are basically true assholes/losers but still far from the upper 40% of people who you want to have in your life AT LEAST, and ideally as many of the upper 30-20% you can get. This last upper third seems definitely very rare here on Reddit (and again, they are the people I try to surround myself with for friends, mostly).

I don't think it is helpful to make generalisations about men as a whole e.g. they ALL watch porn, they ALL cheat, etc, because that puts you in a scarcity mindset and will make you hold on to the first seemingly decent man you come across. I've met plenty of men who had some seemingly HV qualities (not watching porn, being feminist, etc), and my assuming that was rare made me turn a blind eye on other red flags. It is better to focus on what you want and what you deserve, and let each individual man approach you and show you who he is, and cut him off the moment he fails to meet your standards. Generalisations about men will make you feel hopeless, but statistics do not say anything about an individual. I think most men hold misogynistic views, but you only need one partner for a romantic relationship and none at all for happiness and contentment. Know that men cannot be trusted until they prove themselves trustworthy, but don't assume that the trash on this hell website is representative of each and every man, because that is not a mindset that serves you.

They do not represent men in general but rather a minority of very misogynistic (mostly younger) men who have very little actual life experience who are very low value. I can say this after reading the filth on Reddit for years in a wide variety of subreddits.

For instance, I know not one man, whether high or low value, in my real life who supports men not paying child support if they father a child. On Reddit, a very vocal group of men keep making threads about how a man who fathers a child should be able to opt out financially, neglecting to understand the fact that EVERYONE ELSE and THEMSELVES (aka the taxpayers) would have to pay extra taxes so that all of these kids won’t live shitty lives. Whether that’s through Headstart programs, free school lunch, etc. I’m so tired of reading bullshit like that from these child-men on here.

Since I've been in quarantine for nearly a year now, I've spoken to several men on Reddit. From my interactions, 99% seem to be LVM. The only one I've ever spoken to, who actually seemed decent, was rarely on Reddit or social media. He was too busy for it. He was off helping with a community garden, working, had artistic pursuits, practiced meditation, and was off reading. He always had something interesting to talk about. The rest that I've spoken to were dull, socially retarded, LVM gamers. Always whining about something.

I think it’s an accurate representation of what most men think, but won’t admit to thinking irl. I don’t think Reddit attracts lower value people thereby giving us a skewed representation. We ladies are, after all, are on Reddit too, and we strive to be better versions of ourselves. Nope, I think it’s just a place where they can be their true selves uninhibited.

Men on Reddit are low value, men on OnlyFans, PornHub, and Fetlife are low value, men on tinder and other dating sites are low value, men addicted to online gaming are low value. It seems men in many facets of the virtual space are low value. I think we need to start accepting the fact that most men are just low value, and the internet allows us to observe them.

I think they are just being more vocal about it on the internet. Used to work in a very heavily male dominated field until last year and good grief, I've seen and heard the most disgusting shit because at some point I just became part of the lab inventory in their brains and they dropped their filters. Reddit isn't as popular over here so I don't think they have it, and also misogyny has a different "flavor" than in the US if you catch my drift.

honestly i think HVM arent even a thing. every man to a certain degree believes 1) men are always better than women and 2) women exist for sex and babies, nothing else. the HVM are the ones we see who can set those two things aside because they can see some level of humanity in women close to them. they can play the role, they can act like the women means something to them. the LVM are the men who let the truth spill out, they dont hide their hatred and annoyance of women

i say this from personal experience. ive met men who will tell me to my face that women cant drive, they shouldnt be ambitious because they'll need to breed at some point. ive met incredibly intelligent, successful men who can be polite to me but will call women like kim kardashian 'bimbo headed bitch haha but ur not like that'. men who see women as humans, who value our humanity and desires are extremely extremely rare

Idk. I used to feel men of Reddit represented the extremes, the worst of the worst, but if you watch TV, a lot of the terms that originated here have leaked into mainstream discourse. Chad and Stacey are everyday terms, so are a lot of once niche porn categories. I still think reddit men are the worst, but they’re like the canary in the coal mine. They show us where regular men are heading, they’re just basically ahead of the curve.

I guess I’m kind of a hypocrite bc here I am on Reddit but men being on Reddit creeps me out and I have a general picture of what those men look like. Idk. It kind of turns me off to think of a guy on Reddit especially frequently. I visit other subreddits but the main reason I’m on here is because of FDS.

They're worse on reddit. I watch my boyfriend scroll reddit and he's combination repulsed and amused by all the neckbeards. And he's flabergasted by the wanna be pick up artists. My brother and i used to live together and the way he and his (male) friends talked when they were together was more HV than conversations with most of my friends.

In my opinion the "all men" propaganda is just as insidious as the "not all men". LVM and pickmes try so hard to convince themselves and others they they're not failures, that good men just dont exist. Wrong. Good men exist and yes they are rare but they're not THAT rare.

Since day 1 reddit has had a reputation for being the asshole of the internet, perhaps with only 4chan being worse. This place is the home of the incel movement, so the men on this website are a particular brand of vile loser. I do not think they represent most men HOWEVER manosphere bs and reddit ideology seems to be more common in the real world these days. As an ex I believe someone posted to this sub a while back about a teacher in England who was finding male teenage students across the country were parroting manosphere shit that she never heard IRL before.

(HOWEVER personally, over the last couple years, I have seen internet behavior and ideology become mainstream IRL in more categories than just manosphere and incel stuff)

Anyway I think it's not in anyone's best interest to think most men are like the trash on this website. I think it's in our best interest to live by the truth that most men are at the very least, a little misogynistic; that men who want to date you are guilty until they prove themselves innocent; and that you should alwya ensure you are in a position to cut off ASAP any man at the first sign of a red flag.
