Another article on this points out that men are less likely to have reported the attacks. We must accept that men can be vulnerable too, that there is no shame in being victimised, and that we need to watch out for each other. This horrible person has hurt so many people, on such a regular basis, over a relatively short period of time. Women are very good at having each others backs, and men are very good at making sure women get home safe. However, because everyone is equal, we need to ensure that all of our friends get home safe, especially when they have been drinking or are out alone.

Where were the friends of these men?

Check on your friends! Never leave a man behind! Make sure everyone gets home safe!

There are multiple issues with this case.
A single incident of this should have been enough to put this offender in jail for several years.
Men are not educated on this problem to the same extent as women.
Mainstream news will not cover this type of story, far too many journalists will amplify the male-offender-female-victims storylines only to the exclusion of all other gender offender/victim combinations. Trans offenders get a free pass.

Mainstream news will not cover this type of story

Sorry but mainstream news is covering this story. The article linked is from BBC, which deemed it a big enough news story to push a breaking news alert to all of their mobile app users.

Trans offenders get a free pass.

This one is especially galling to me.

I'm "Two-Spirited", which has become a fancy term that was once reserved for people who were actually found to be that. Being Two Souls in One Body is not exactly something one should brag about. The fact that I'd get "Super special treatment" if I ever "Formally declared it" here in Canada makes my stomach turn. That isn't what we are meant to be, not some fucking Idol to put on a pedestal. Just a Human with some strange characteristics. For the most part, no one would ever know I am what I am. It's a personal thing and rightly so.

[–]AspiringGuru 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

not the response I was expecting on a topic prone to outrage. Thanks for holding a reasoned position.

I may not understand you, but this position I respect.

This story was literally on the front page of every newspaper today.

[–]AspiringGuru -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because it was an extreme example that was hard to ignore.
Meanwhile thousands of assaults against men by women are not reported to police, dismissed by police, ignored by media.

Recently we saw a case where an ex burned her boyfriend alive by setting his apartment on fire. The same week talk show hosts spent all their time on trivial 'regret sex' type cases.

[–]antifeminist3 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists state that 'we need to raise awareness of rape to encourage women to come forward'. This means feminists recognize that not doing so means women are less likely to come forward. The fact that feminists do so in a 'gendered' way to exclude men from this means they recognize that their campaigns that exclude raising awareness of sexual assault against men means that men are less likely to come forward.

And then the feminists criticize men for not coming forward, while continuing to state that 'we need to raise awareness of sexual assault against women."

[–]ColonelVirus -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

This makes no sense though. In a real world scenario if your mate pulls someone, you let them go. For all intents and purposes this guy was a nice, charming bloke picking up people from bars. Like everyone else does. It was when he got them home that shit went south. What are friends going to do? Stop people from meeting? No more pulling in public? They have to vet every guy/girl prior to going back with them?

There was and is literally nothing you can do to stop this type of situation. Someone always has to be the first victim after all. It's a shame and criminal this went on for so long and so many people were effected after the first few (who likely might not have even been aware they were raped).

[–]TomLambe 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

That's not how this guy raped his victims.

He targeted straight guys, he waited outside straight clubs for guys who were drunk and on their own, he offered them to go back to his nearby flat to charge their phone/to have another drink/to sleep on his floor. To go somewhere so they could get home safe. He then drugged and rapped them while they were unconcious.

There isn't nothing you can do. Don't leave your friends alone on a night out and don't go off alone on a night out. If you do, have your guard up. People can be sick cunts.

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Also, if you are a man who is drunk and alone don't take drinks from strange men in their apartment.

And if you do, and wake up in a strange guys apartment and can't remember what happened. It is okay to report that to the police.

This whole thing was so easily preventable. All we really have to do is tell men they CAN be victimized.

[–]ColonelVirus 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Don't leave your friends alone on a night out and don't go off alone on a night out.

That is just not practical though IMO. If you're constantly worrying about that sort of shit, why go out at all? At some point people have to be responsible for themselves, you can't worry about your friends all evening or watch them like a hawk.

[–]shoelaceys 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women do it all the time. It’s just that now men have an example on the importance of sticking together on nights out and looking out for one another. It’s not that hard to make sure your friend doesn’t wander off once you’re used to that mindset. It’s even more easier once you understand there are risks out there so you’ll not be prone to get incredibly wasted.

[–]TomLambe 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yeah you’re right, the obvious answer is stay in or go out and get raped. There is no in-between or caution.

/s

[–]ColonelVirus 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Not what I said at all lol.

Everyone is cautious when they go out. No one can claim they go out completely caution free. Human interaction is always a gamble.

Still practically nothing can be done about it. It doesn't matter how cautious or aware you are, at some point all it takes is trusting the wrong person. The guy looks like a pushover pussy, so at no point would you consider him a threat.

What I'm 100% surprised about tbh, is the guy isn't dead or in a coma... especially if he was raping straight guys.

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

"What I'm 100% surprised about tbh, is the guy isn't dead or in a coma... especially if he was raping straight guys."

Because the victim would end up going to prison for gay bashing.

[–]ColonelVirus 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ha probably.

Not sure you'd give a shit after someone had just violated your asshole though.

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually... I just read another article and that's exactly what happened. One of the straight guys woke up, beat the crap out of the him, and when the police showed up they initially arrested the straight guy.

He would have been believed as the victim but for the fact he asked the police to fetch his cell phone which had video of everything.

[–]Thomjones 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's right. Band of Brothers. Watch it some time.

[–]throwwowwee 61 points62 points63 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow, glad they locked him up.

[–]Mens_rights_matter2 92 points93 points94 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Disgusting. Also, lets please refrain from any of the "hope he gets r@ped in jail" comments.

[–]mtcapri 30 points31 points32 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed, although I think there's something to be said for acknowledging that a certain amount of schadenfreude if it does happen is understandable. It's a good human trait, being able to feel one way about something and yet rise above that emotion cognitively and say what happened isn't right. People can't be blamed for how they feel, only for they respond to their feelings.

That being said, that was one of my first thoughts when reading the article: they can't house this guy in a normal prison; if they do, the inmates will find out what he did, and many of them have been traumatized by male rapists—they'll fucking torture the guy to death, if not make him a rape doll, maybe both.

[+]regrus -51 points-50 points-49 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

"Jailed for life for 136 rapes"

"he drugged and assaulted them"

Assaulted? He was literally convicted of their RAPES and it still gets downplayed and spun because the victims were male. They are bending over backwards here to prevent having to put into print that men can be rape victims.

Fucking atrocious exclusionary wordsmithing designed to keep all the victim resources flowing in one direction only.

Me: quotes headline

"bro you missed the headline"

wat.

My point that you missed in your zeal to dive right into a callout was that they never put the words "men" and "raped" in the same sentence. It's not variation to avoid monotony, it's deliberate disconnection of victims from crimes to preserve a political narrative, and it happens in every single news report about men being raped in the rare instances where it's even covered in the press.

[–]portapottypantyraid 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I really disagree, it said the men he lured back were assaulted and later he is called a “sexual predator who preys on young men”

It’s pretty direct if you ask me?

Also BBC isn’t the type to dance around terms to follow a narrative. I think you’re being a little paranoid.

[–]abooseoxy 37 points38 points39 points 6 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Bro it literally says 136 rapes in the headline. Calm down, they're just using synonyms to avoid repetition of words which makes for an arduous read.

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 -4 points-3 points-2 points 6 years ago* (13 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I don't know about that.

With the same number of characters they could have made the headline:

Homosexual predator jailed for life for raping 48

or perhaps something like:

Rapist of 48 men jailed for life

Either of which would have accurately summarized what actually happened and sounds natural.

The headline as written sounds awkward and could be misinterpreted to mean he raped 136 women, or a combination of men and women, or even just one woman 136 times.

"It is also factually inaccurate as 136 is the estimate of the number of victims he had, not the total number of rapes he was convicted of or suspected of committing."

Never mind- I read that wrong. 136 is the number of counts of rape he was convicted of. But see how it is confusing?

I can't think of any reason to phrase it the way it was phrased other than a desire to promote a stereotype.

[–]mcchanical 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The fuck does declaring him homosexual in the headline do to improve the meaning of it? You're being ridiculous. People get angry when the word rape is avoided, not when it is used liberally but backed up with alternative synonyms to elevate it above the level of tabloid trash. You're behaving like an ignorant feminist who can't see the good in any situation and default to being victimised no matter the context.

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You're right. I don't see the good in 48 men being raped. And I consider it victimization no matter the context.

When we talk about these things, the point should be to stop it from happening again in the future.

That means warning potential victims that they ARE potential victims. Without making them read through the whole article to realize it.

[–]portapottypantyraid 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Tbh you sound insane. What reason is there to make it sound like women were raped instead of men?

As far as I care, rape is rape dude. If people want to know more about this guy there’s google for that.

And as far as the potential victim bullshit, fuck you- everyone is a “potential victim” whatever that means

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Go read some of those other articles about this particular case. Sky one has a good article. The most important part is at the bottom:

"Do you believe you have been a victim or been affected by this case? If so, contact the police on 0800 092 0410 (UK calls) or 020 7158 0124 (international calls)."

The police are still looking for hundreds of MEN who were traveling or living in the area and are potential rape victims.

So, no, not everyone is a potential victim. Not in this case. He didn't rape any women.

https://news.sky.com/story/reynhard-sinaga-serial-rapist-handed-multiple-life-sentences-for-violent-campaign-11902070

What reason is there to make it sound like women were raped instead of men? NONE. That's why the BBC shouldn't have done it. They should have let MEN know they might have been raped.

[–]portapottypantyraid 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What I'm saying is that they didn't try to make it seem like women were raped.... And the reason I said everyone is a potential victim was in reference to the grand scope of things, not just this case. If a man who was abused by him saw this article, and saw that man's face--he would immediately know and if you don't think so idk what to tell you.

You want the news to rub this in everyone's face to show people that men get abused too, but thats not how news works. If you want it rubbed in people's faces you have to do it yourself.

You're overthinking things to a ridiculous level lmao just vibe bro

[–]Cookiedoughjunkie 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You think that, but that's how they work. Even when reporting on stories, you're not allowed to put certain words near each other and are encouraged to do other misleading things for clickbait so long as it's within the rules of what you can and can't write.

For instance, mentioning a black person is a criminal in the same sentence can't be done. Or that the criminal is black. They'll have to write it as "their name" if charges have been filed is a criminal or "The person of interest is a criminal". Things of this nature,

It became a joke, then became truth that if there were witnesses, but nobody'd identify the race of the assailant, you knew they were black. If they announced the race, well there ya go. They'd never say "The suspect is 5'9" and African American". They'd stop right at 5'9". But for anything else they'd go 5'9" and white" or "5'9" and hispanic descent (or variations to mean latino) or Asian. So, if they're giving a description and race is left out. There ya go.

[–]Azurenightsky 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You're overthinking things to a ridiculous level lmao just vibe bro

Disgusting.

It's one thing to dismiss anothers opinion because you do not find it palatable. Its' quite another to mock them for it. Doubly so when you're provably wrong.

Our societies greatest ills are found in what I dub Word Wizardry. By purposely manipulating definitions over the last few decades and altering their meaning through means like Social Engineering applied to Mass Media. We're being lied too constantly in the smallest, slimiest of ways. All because of a few well placed words that "sound the same' but actively mean two different things.

The works of Dr Bruce Lipton will explain why exactly that's so harmful. Everything that you are exposed too affects your health, for better or for worse. Few things affect humans as negatively as lies do.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Word Wizardry

AKA spin

[–]degustibus -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Really? You think a paper in our decadent civilization would call him a homosexual predator? I mean, once you realize he's a man sexually victimizing men, it's sort of clear. The article waits until almost the end to share that this criminal especially enjoyed victimizing heterosexual men. With all of the efforts to glorify LGBTQIA as the finest people ever, the cases that give pause to that notion are distorted or hushed up.

Andrew Cunanan was a gay serial killer (most famous victim Versace). John Wayne Gacy, gay serial killer. Jeffrey Dahlmer, gay serial killer cannibal. And those are just a few who pop to mind because of their infamy. Saw in the news today about a 50 year old sicko who was preying on guys he met through Grindr. He murdered a guy and ate a pair of body parts.

What else do you expect from the Bolsheviks Buggering Children.

[–]Considered_Dissent 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The Guardian article on it is even more ridiculous. They turn 136 rapes into "dozens".

[–]DacoLordo 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How the fuck do you even rack up a tally of 20 rapes without getting locked up. The UK is fucking disgusting I can't imagine how unbearable it must be to live their as a straight white man. I guarantee he was reported by many men who weren't believed and their joke of a criminal justice system let this guy go unapprehended for like 135 rapes too many.

[–]mcchanical 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah it's not as bad as you think don't get carried away. I'm white and male and no this is not like living in downtown fucking Iraq. Heinous criminals get away with fucked up shit sometimes. Sneaky criminals aren't unique to the UK, you have serial killers and serial rapists too.

[–]mcchanical 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There is no need for this fucking outrage man. What are you asking for here, for the article to be vetted so that only RAPE in bold letters is used in place of all other synonyms? The writer has clearly called it what it is, rape, described the rapist as a monster and possibly the worst rapist in the history of the UK so they are well within their right to spice it up with a bit of variety. Rape is an extreme and specific form of assault and the article clearly uses the accurate term abundantly.

There's nothing "fucking atrocious" about this other than the fact that you're unwilling to see how much of a step in the right direction it is to see male rape condemned and dragged out into the light of day like it should be.

[–]KneeDeepThought 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What I'm asking for is equality. Men get raped more than women if you include prison stats, and it takes a serial rapist who is a male for any of it to be "dragged out into the light of day" instead of written off as a "tryst," a "romp," an "inappropriate relationship," or any of a dozen other euphemisms used when the perpetrator is a woman.

Even when it is called out it's still spun so that the words "male" and "rape victim" don't appear anywhere near each other to soften the blow. Men can't be perceived as victims of rape by society or those who are getting the government funding might have to share it with the other 50% of the population who are being hurt too. So yeah, that's pretty outrageous especially when you consider men pay more into the government coffers just to be ignored when they need the help because of selective messaging like this.

[–]LaserBees 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

136 rapes? Then you know there must've actually been THOUSANDS.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you use feminist math, sure.

[–]SirGuileSir 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Can we bring him to the US and point him at the guys who don't agree that men can be raped, or *ANYONE* who doesn't believe in rape at all? Because there's "ways to shut that down" you know.

[–]Jay_Hardy 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Which is funny because those people often think that only men can rape.
Therefore, they won’t even argue that what he did is wrong, they however would say that a woman can’t do such things.
Even then, they’d also tell you that it’s worse when it happens to women.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Because he refused to plead guilty the jurors had to watch every video submitted as evidence. There were at least 190 victims. The sadist probably enjoyed that part too.

If he does he gets away with his actions without feeling the punishment. He should be kept alive but deprived of stimulus.

if the victims were females, there would be a million people walking in the street tomorrow to protest.

[–]mcchanical -4 points-3 points-2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Massive exaggeration. This is a step in the right direction, getting the correct amount of attention. This isn't just being posted here.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In Australia we'd be relentlessly subjected to teary eyed lectures from feminists in our mainstream media blaming every boy and man for one person's acts.

[–]Pioustarcraft 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The 3D map of Australia fires is also a massive exageration, yet it went viral and people think it is an accurate representation

[–]mcchanical 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There would not be a million people marching if the victims were female. It would be international news just like this is and cause an outcry. People are in outrage about this here in the uk and it is getting constant natonal coverage. Im not sure why the default attitude for so many people here is generic anger and outrage.

The judge ruled his life sentence must include a minimum of 30 years in jail.

Uhm, does this judge not realize what a life sentence means?

[–]Throwaway_Old_Guy 22 points23 points24 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

"Life" could be a 25 year term, and with good behaviour plus pre-trial credits (a 2 for 1 deal), you could be out in 15 or less.

At least this Judge stipulated the accused spend 30 years behind bars.

He should never see daylight again.

[–]Snow_Ghost 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Forgive me, because I thought Britain was an english speaking country. "Life" means "for the rest of your mortal days, until you cease to be." 15-30 years is a pittance and is not anywhere near "Life".

[–]Throwaway_Old_Guy 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm Canadian, and we use their style of Law as we were once a Colony of the British Empire.

I do believe "life" did mean that literally at some point in time. The only way you left prison was in a box.

The modern life term is generally 25 years, and can have provision for time already served in pre-trial detention, and early release on parole. (freedom under subjects)

INAL - A real Lawyer can chime in with corrections if needed!

[–]mcchanical 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's the pedantic way of looking at it, but as we all know, words in law and science often have meanings beyond their original or primary dictionary definitions. English is a pretty flexible language with a lot of euphemisms and mixed meanings. American English is even more flexible about using words beyond their original meaning.

[–]VicisSubsisto 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Prison terms can be reduced; it's a way to encourage good behavior in prison. You can't just throw everyone in there and leave them to their own devices, then the guys who should be getting out after a couple years would never survive that long.

So, "You'll die in prison" is the default sentence, and if he's on his absolute best behavior, just a perfect angel, convinces every other prisoner to dedicate their lives to charitable work, etc., then he'll serve 30 years.

By the way, if that confused you, this will make your head explode.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

'Life' refers to the fact that when he is released from prison he will be on licence and have conditions put onto his exsistance by the probation service, for the rest of his mortal days

[–]SchalaZeal01 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you're 40, and you spend 30 in jail. Chance are if you even get out at 70, you won't have much time left.

[–]Azurenightsky -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Britain was an english speaking country

It is. Legalese is not English. In fact, most courts happen in "International Waters", hence the barrier we walk past. Mercantile Arbitration is what the courts are used for. Justice? Laughable. No man has any right to be a Judge on this earth. Especially not with the disgusting Systems we have in place right now.

[–]Bart_1980 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Life in a lot of places means 25 to 30 years.

[–]Snow_Ghost -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That's not "Life". That's 25-30.

[–]Bart_1980 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's also not life where I'm from, however doesn't change the fact that it's true for quite a lot of countries.

[–]mcchanical 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In those jurisdictions, that sentence IS called life, and that won't change because you don't like it. If you live in that jurisdiction, you know what life in prison means.

Sometimes terms are used beyond their original meaning.

[–]Jay_Hardy 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In Germany a life sentence is 15 years.
Of course, if you behave well and yadda yadda it’s reduced and such.
And it can be increased with other sentences for other crimes you did, but a “by the books life sentence” is 15 years.

[–]DiggerW 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's literally called that.

In England and Wales, the average life sentence prisoner serves around 15 to 20 years before being paroled, although those convicted of exceptionally grave crimes remain behind bars for considerably longer

Emphasis mine. He used ghb.

[–]mcchanical 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I think people underestimate how easy it can be to get away with crime. Especially when we live in a culture where up until recently even women wouldn't come forward about rape. Most of these blokes have no idea what happened and the ones that did are so horrified to have been victimised that they didn't speak up. All of them were probably drunk enough that paying attention to details and remembering them are almost impossible. Fact is, rapists and murderers get away with it a lot and we need to work on that. They're usually not stupid.

Fun fact, I've been "date rape" drugged and I might as well been under general anaesthetic at hospital. You don't remember anything, it's like being dead and then you wake up wherever you were left.

[–]Mr-Cali 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Very well put. And totally agree. Sucks that stuff like this can go this long unnoticed

[–]couscous_ 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Was he targeting homosexual men? Was he also a homo?

[–]subpar_man 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

He was gay and apparently preferred targeting straight men. Given that he lived no more than a few hundred metres from the gay village in Manchester there are probably more than a few gay victims too.

[–]couscous_ 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How did he convince them to get back to his apartment and drug them?

[–]subpar_man 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Mix of ways, offer them water/food/a drink. Somewhere to charge their phone, sleep on the floor if they're too drunk etc

[–]hell_on_the_heart 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow, wtf? Piece of shit!

[–]rahsoft 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Interesting that the CPS called it rape when the rape law was redefined ( by the muppet known as Harriet Hartman) to define the point that men cannot be raped.

I suspect the feminists will milk this to serve their "all men are rapists" agenda

[–]AdamChap 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Men can be raped by other men. or by women who penetrate using another body part or object. If a man forced you to penetrate him though - I'm pretty sure that's not rape either. I often define my experience with an ex, as rape - although in the eyes of UK law, is nothing more than sexual assault.

[–]rahsoft 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Holy shit, how does it even get to be THAT high? Thats a ridiculous number. 48 confirmed and 190 potential.

Did no one believe the victims? As I'd bet money some of them had an idea of what happened, but testing men for being drugged/raped isn't standard.

[–]thejynxed 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, GHB is a hell of a drug to get dosed with if you aren't among the small population of people resistant to anaethesia of any sort.

I wonder if we'll ever see or hear of this on any feminist "sources" outside of the fact that "a man was jailed for 136+ rapes!"... They'll twist it as if all of those victims were female and focus solely on the offenders gender instead of the victims...

[–]iainmf 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]A-Real-Bro -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The scary thing about this is that this guy is one person that has done it on a large scale and been caught.

How many men are doing this on a smaller scale and have never or will never be caught? Most men won't want to report it.

I agree that the story and case would be completely different if he'd raped women.

I don't know why most people are so sensitive to GHB. My co-workers and I got to go on a company field trip to a theme park and one of them brought a Mio bottle full of the stuff. We drank a lot of booze and drank a lot of Mio. It was a great time, or so I've heard!

[–]mcchanical 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Everyone is sensitive to GHB. It's a powerful anaesthetic. There's a difference between getting high with your mates and being spiked with enough drugs to put you out for the next 4 hours. You're not hard or cool because you drank and did some G with your mates.
