I started browsing the TRP subreddit several years ago, and have seen a lot of the older posts and top posts. I like it pretty well and I agree with them on a lot, although they are prone to hyperbole, and I personally don't have the same priorities as they do.

I would summarize the core beliefs of TRP as follows:

  1. Traditional gender roles and sexual dynamics were better but they're defunct now.

  2. It's not worth pursuing traditional relationships anymore because current laws and culture are stacked against that, and stacked against men generally.

  3. Women hook up and have short sexual relationships with attractive and less agreeable men in their youth (alpha fucks). When they get older they get married to a nice, stable, "beta" provider who is not as attractive (beta bucks). Women are not as sexual or affectionate with them, and often take them out to the cleaners in a divorce.

  4. Therefore, pursuing serious, committed, relationships with women is generally a bad idea. TRP is overwhelmingly against marriage, mostly against cohabitation, and some members were opposed to any sexually exclusive relationship. The general rule on sluts is that they are fine for casual sex but to be avoided IF you want an exclusive relationship.

  5. Men should improve their behavior and "game" to become more sexually successful with women. The specifics are too much for this post, although it can be summarized as be less agreeable, more assertive, and more confident.

Frankly, many guys here who self-identify as "redpill" or lean that way couldn't be more different. They took the "traditional gender roles and sexual dynamics were better" and "sluts .... to be avoided" parts and ignored everything else.

I think they tend to be sexually frustrated and socially conservative young men and boys; essentially the stereotypical Jordan Peterson fanboy/NoFapper.

These guys are the type of men to obsess over marrying a chaste, feminine, stay-at-home "tradwife", and LARPing as a 1950s family. They will fetishize virginity/chastity, absolutely seethe at sluts and declare they'd never touch them with a 10-foot pole, say they want to get married to the "right" woman (unicorn hunting), say they want to a breadwinner, etc.

We've all seen those comments. It quite literally couldn't be further from TRP, which champions fucking sluts and avoiding marriage.

So I'd like to ask everyone, regardless of pill color or beliefs, is this kind of the guy that comes into mind for you when someone says "red pill"? Or do you label all manosphere guys as "red pill? Seen it get used that way as well. What is your own personal understanding of this term? Please share.
