Men are polyamorous, not hypergamous.

This all comes from simple biology, men have plenty of sperm to go around, women can only produce one baby every 9 months.

Men can impregnate several women, so the best way for him to pass his genes onto the next generation is to mate with as many women as he can. Thus Polygamous.

Women on the other hand can only carry 1 baby every 9 months + recovery time, and during a large portion of this time, they need lots of support. So women need to pick the best man to mate with who will not only give her the best genes, but also support her through the pregnancy. Thus hypergamous.

You could kinda argue men are hypergamous only when they’re in a situation/culture where they are only allowed to date and mate with a single woman for the rest of their lives, aka like you said, LTR, but this is largely a cultural thing. And men aren’t really looking for the best they can get, most of the time it’s just good enough.

Ehh, you’re close, but not quite there in my opinion.

First off, women are hypergamous in both long and short term relationships for the most Tho I could agree if you’re speaking only in terms of looks. Then yeah, I’d say you’re correct. Women are far more critical of looks when the interaction is only primal or sexual in nature. So it depends on what type if hypergamy you’re referring to here.
I wouldn’t say men are “just as” hypergamous (that’s simply “just world fallacy”). But I’ve said before that men can be a bit hypergamous too in a certain context. If we are talking strictly about looks and raw sex appeal, then yes, men often want women more beautiful than themselves. Yes, ideally every man wants a women that’s top tier in looks. That’s hypergamy.
But I’d say looks/youth is about the only area where it could be argued that men are anywhere near as hypergamous as women. Which is where the idea of women being hypergamous (in comparison to men) originates from. Usually when someone says “women are hypergamous”, what they’re actually saying is “women are much more hypergamous than men”. Which is more than likely true. (Keep in mind that, not every redpiller views this a bad thing btw.)

Hypergamy means "sexual hypergamy". It means that women are not sexually attracted to men who do not have some superior quality that they admire, while men can be sexually attracted to women who are completely inferior to them in every way.

Men try to optimize in relationships. Women try to optimize in both sex and relationships, and will likely not have either if they can't find a man who fits their standards. These are the differences between the sexes and why men are not as hypergamous as women.

Hypergamy refers to marrying up in terms of socio-economic class. It’s typically a woman who trades her youth and beauty for the financial security of an older man. It pre-dates tinder by about a millennia.

Dating apps can be more accurately named "hook-up" apps, and research has shown that men are far more interested in STR's than women. Thus there is a population skewness toward male presence on 'dating' apps.

This still doesn't prove men are hypergemous. Even when women are given the chance to dictate the terms, ala Bumble, we still see the same phenomenon women going for the top ~5% of guys...

Have a look around this sub and you will see the long list of requirements for a man's ideal bride.

I don't know, bruh/sis. On this sub, I see men begging for just a drop of female attention. Many would shack up with a woman for as long as she was pretty and she genuinely liked him and didn't play coy about it.

Totally agree with your main point. Mostly agree with your reasoning. I've used dating sites as a man for both str and ltrs. I'm in my late 30s and I had more success on more 'serious' apps (hah) like okcupid and bumble, but even on tinder it boiled down to 4 dates. 2 went nowhere. 1 hookup. 1 ltr. Overall with dating apps that probably looked more like 3/1/1.

Hypergamy refers to the tendency of women to marry across and preferably up socioeconomic hierarchies. That's the classic definition of hypergamy. The same thing doesn't apply to men, since they marry across and down socioeconomic hierarchies. Hypergamy has nothing to do with looks at all, at least based on its original definition.

That being said, you're kinda correct. When it comes to long term relationships, when a woman marries significantly up in socioeconomic status, the man usually marries significantly up in looks. It's kind of obvious why. Men overwhelmingly go for looks and if they don't get a good deal on it, then there is nothing in it for them. Ultimately everyone acts out of self interest. Everyone dates up in the traits they desire the most.
