For the most part you get what you click on. It doesn't really take that many clicks on one type of content for your algorithm to completely get taken over. I think it plays a significant role in why men here think all women are one type, because they are only really exposed to content creators who lean one way. The internet fucks everything up and can easily make the world look like everyone does xyz when really other people have totally opposite experiences. Pretty sure my husband thinks the entire world is obsessed with warhammer because all of the content he consumes now has basically one theme.

From what I’ve heard, on a typical social website like Reddit, women get harassed much more than men. So I think that women get harassed more online.

personally I don't consider that harrassment, but sex spam. It's kind of like harrassment in that dealing with it is a constant nuisance, but there's a whole impersonal, commercial element to the way men are solicited

Also harrassment will generally be complained about, whereas sex spam is just kind of expected for men we just roll our eyes and close it out

OF spamming is annoying and rude as fuck, but it’s not harassment because you have to pay and login to see the pictures. There’s also the intention to sell you a product. While the D pics are out and about, and the intention is for the guy to date or sleep with the woman.

Well, technically... maybe about the same?

I do get sent unsolicited messages with racy content sometimes. Like on dating apps I might unknowingly match a woman selling content, a bot, a sugar baby, or straight up prostitute who sends me unsolicited salacious pictures. So yeah, technically I am being harassed in the same way women are.

But I think there is a difference with a bot and even a real human selling content and just broadcasting these kinds of messages in a non-targeted, impersonal way. I think the most creepy situations for women is when there are guys who pursue them specifically and maybe even have a bit of a normal chat going and then spring something sexual on them without warning.

Maybe technically it is similar but the intent behind it and the creepiness level feels different.

Absolutely not. I think that men get a lot of abuse online, but women get all of that too and on top of that, also get an extra helping of gendered abuse and threats that men dodge.

Well that sort of bait and switch shit is annoying but it's only part of a whole spectrum of things men do that harrass women. Mostly when women encounter bait and switch online it is some guy trying to work them round to participating in his fetish...tell him about their feet and shoes for example.

Look, go right ahead and say mean things to those girls if you want. Stay within the law though. If someone goes up to a stranger proactively and bothers them with a conversation that leads covertly but deliberately to explicit content in attempt to get their sexual participation that's behaviour that can reasonably be expected to sometimes get an angry response. "Gross, I wouldnt take that even for free, fuck off and stay fucked off"is in my opinion a response that a person should expect to sometimes receive if they go doing that repeatedly.

I do not understand why you need to turn this into a competition. The women who harass you also harass me. The men who harass you also harass me. And then the men who do not harass you also harass me. And then the women who do not harass me also harass you.

It is a bad thing and should be definitely quelled. However, you also need to recognize that there is a difference between personalized and targeted harassment vs. advertisement of sex work.

I have never in my life felt harassed by being given a link to an only fans whether it’s by a man or woman on Reddit or on another platform. Why? They’re not sending it because it’s me. They’re sending it to make profit.

When do I feel harassed? When men or women seek me out specifically to ask for sexual favors. This is different because instead of approaching me by making themselves the object, they are approaching me while making me the object.

It seems like you are looking for a way to be able to say you are treated worse than women I’m not entire sure why.

It’s definitely both bad no matter who does it but when female sex workers do it it’s simply business, when men do it they’re doing it to get off because they like it when a woman is uncomfortable and they want to feel seen. You should also note that you’re often see a bot so it’s unlikely that an actual woman took her time to send you a nude for free without being in a relationship.
