Narrowing it down to “sexually attractive status” is basically the same thing as saying that the dudes who have status (i.e. are elite) for doing things which are sexually attractive will be very sexually attractive. Yes, of course.

Also, the “not gaining from it financially” line is very blurred given that the sort of woman who is following around and dropping everything to sleep with celebrity men is someone who is probably employed or is seeking employment in the sort of industries where having access or perceived access to these high-status men is financially beneficial.

Majority of the cases though status comes out of those other factors, especially money & social skills. Fakers the likes of Frank Abagnale are the exception, rather than the rule, and even then their status implies money & power and the social skills to leverage the perception of those factors.

A billionaire athletes or actor will always get plenty of women. Thankfully, there aren't enough of these guys for them to be any realistic competition for most men. Even if they slept with a lot of women, these celebrities are not having 100 gfs they keep in a harem so these woman are still available for other men.

So the guy that will beat out the other competition is the archetypal male. His status is not based on his profession or social standing. He doesn't flaunt wealth or access or power. He is the guy your wives and girlfriends tell you not to worry about.

Status is relative and, all things being equal, is still behind looks in the hierarchy of attraction for women.

If Post Malone walked in to a local bar you’d probably have a fair number of “Star fuckers” trying to fuck him. But, if say, Chase Crawford (“The Deep” from the show The Boys) walked in after him, far more women would likely want to fuck him despite him being significantly less famous (but still well enough known for bragging rights).

For male SMV, fame trumps all forms of status and most forms of looks. It’s basically the closest thing to being a living god we have in the modern world.

Most men fall into the “Truly Avg Man” category and many women believe they can choose from at least 3 or 4 higher categories before having to “Settle” for that.

This does not make social status something superior to money or looks, it is just one of the things in an interconnected equation. If status was really superior to looks and money, then you could not enhance it by having sex with women considered beautiful, nor impair it by having sex with ugly women.
