I started dating my wife nearly eleven years ago now so I’m not very well versed in being single these days and I never used a dating app at all but I still think I know a bit so here’s my two cents…

No one should “date”, as in go out with someone you barely know with the expectation of having sex. That sounds horrible and awkward and weird.

When I was single, I would hang out with friends and coworkers and inevitably hooking up would happen (usually after a bunch of drinks), and then you go out for dinner and movies and stuff. After you already know you like each other. The “dating” part is to figure out whether or not this works long term.

As far as “standards” go, no one should be criticized for having the one golden standard, “am I attracted to this person?”

If the answer is no then…there’s no there there, is there? Move on.
