The MRM has made some progress. They’ve got many states to adopt more equal custody laws. In a couple states they’ve successfully sued for men to have access to domestic violence shelters. Colleges have brought gender specific scholarships closer to balanced. We see more attention being paid to the issue of boys in school. Some schools have been successfully sued for wrongful discrimination against males. One men’s group sued and won over a case over biased selective service (though Congress refuses to act on that ruling).

The MRM has to fight a powerful feminist effort: feminist groups are well funded. Politicians tend to support feminism to win the women’s vote. Feminism has a huge influence in education and in media. It’s not easy for the MRM to overcome this.

Because we actually have an up hill climb. When women "won" the right to vote there had been a history of decades of majority of MPs agreeing they should have it. It was stopped above the parliamentary level. But it goes to show that most people have supported women for centuries. Meanwhile, no one gives two flying fucks about men. Without empathy for us and our cause there will be no change.

Because a group of men collectively coming together for anything is dangerous…..especially to the elite who wouldn’t let that happen because it can and would possibly lead to an actual revolt against this corrupt and rigged system. A population of men coming together for a collective purpose is truly a force to be reckoned with.

Feminism took 200 years to have real effects. BLM, the organization, is explicitly a radfem organization that used murdered black men to push Intersectionality Feminism talking points, to the point of excluding men from leadership. The actual BLM protest was created and pushed by black male grassroots activism, until the liberal media decided having men advocate for themselves was a threat, and fronted women instead.

My theory is that suffragettes were headed by upper class rich women who were also aided by chivalry. Traditional conservatives work in the favour of feminists as they push male gender roles but due to chivalry, they allow women to choose. For example, men are conscripted but women have the choice.

I think 95% of society dismiss mens rights as a bunch of angry men yelling about women and feminism. Very few people see it as an initiative to actually help men.

I think it would he better for us to have more dignity and integrity than feminists and BLM. Some say it's impossible to affect change without violence or cruelty.. I don't believe they are correct.

And even if there is some truth in what they say- is it really acceptable to become evil to defeat it? I do not believe so. Yes, sometimes one must compromise, but there's a difference between bending and breaking in regards to principle. In spite of what dormers might say- the west isn't a lost cause. For all of our disfunction, we are still strong and free. Postivie change is still possible.

the men's rights movement has already had quite a bit of impact. Our activism and thus the way we affect change must necessarily look different than other movements, because our cause is different.

I also wholeheartedly don't believe that BLM is a good example to follow or emulate (google: astroturf movement).

Likewise feminism has always banked on the 'damsel in distress' narative while publicly denouncing it.

Men don't have such a traditional narative that's why our facilitation of change needs to necessarily be different.

As a precaution: do not base your understanding of progress on men's issues by what you see on social media, including Reddit. Advocates for men have made more progress than people think.

Feminism manufactures change through grievance narratives. Humans are biologically hardwired to be sympathetic towards women and respond to these narratives. There is no such biological bias in favor of men. Further men have been cast as the antagonist of feminist grievance dynamics in both daily life and also in regards to power dynamics. Therefore when men advocate for themselves it's seen as enacting this antagonistic role rather than advocacy and shut down as a threat to women in a zero sum game.

All this means that the MRM is very frustrated when it comes to taking action. It's both difficult for the message of the MRM to resonate with any group beyond men due to a lack of sympathy and counter narratives, and almost impossible to publicly advocate for change without an reactionary blowback.

That being said, the MRM has done a great job educating people through mediums where the reactionary aspect can't silence them entirely like this subreddit and other social media. Ten years ago men were mostly unaware of the dangers and inequalities they faced in society and now I feel most men are aware of at least some of the issues; especially in regards to dating/marriage.

There is obviously room for improvement and in some ways the MRM is farther from it's goals than ever before, but in many other ways the MRM has made great strides and done good work for this generation of young men.

It’s an uphill battle and there are those of us who think society will give a damn about, but the reality is as pointed out by a woman who transitioned to being a man. Being a man is tough and lonely. Men are suspicious of other men and compete with them. Women naturally are on guard against other men. From what I’ve noticed, the tactics that A Voice For Men advocated for mirrored tactics used by the LGBT to gain acceptance into mainstream society. But the reality is that those tactics don’t work today. We just need to figure out a new path.

Because its on a individual scale that it starts. So you likely won't see it, but men just need to all around start taking action day-to-day,. Speaking out, in a well articulated manner, and standing up for fellow men who are being wringlyfully done by, in the same fashion.

Others have given some valid reasons but I will add, not much will happen until men do what women have been doing. Kick up a fuss over tiniest bullshit imaginable, make a mountain out of a mole hill wherever you can. That way non issues become issues and most importantly, somewhat legit issues become a real problem. That's how you manage to present "1 out of 4 homeless people are women" as something that needs fixing asap. Not saying whether they should or not but men will not do that so not much will happen.

BLM was “useful”! For example it was cited to push more pro-female quotas, and pushing the “white man is the privileged enemy” trope which also furthers feminist ends. I’ve not seen any real effort to address the problem of education in poorer black communities (in the US) especially for boys, and certainly none about the rights of black fathers! So only certain “black lives mattered” as far as I could see.

Because men's right issue actually aren't popular.

Many men and women are better of if men and women treated differently even though that's unfair.

Take a look at anti polygamy laws. Mainly hurt men because men do polygamy more. Or is it?

Most poor men support anti polygamy laws. Make it easier for them to get a wife. Women themselves often prefer money than exclusivity love or sanctity. Such women are often shamed for being shallow.

A lot like men are called shallow for wanting beautiful women with good genes. Normality is punished.

Then rich men can just marry divorce marry again. Serial monogamy is effectively polygamy. So we got huge alimony.

Again alimony is absurdly unfair.

But most men support that.

Then child support laws. Why should it be proportional. To men's income?

If it's not. Rich men will knock up lots of women. Why would a woman want to get 500dollar child support from a normal man if she can get knocked up by Al Pacino for $1k a month. If child support for Al Pacino is only $1k a month or can be negotiated by the women guys like Al Pacino will get all the chicks.

Again many men support absurd child support laws.

What about women. Similar.

Prostitution laws are absurd. Women body women right. Why can't women sell sex. Again prostitution is pretty much polygamy for women. Many women support that.

A few smart pretty women selling sex legally openly and we can say good bye to feminism. Why marry risking alimony and other bullshit. Just pay.

If prostitution is legal then who will have far easier time getting women. Rich men. Again poor men wants prostitution to be illegal too.

Basically many voters have interests served by unfair laws.

I am a libertarian by the way. So fair or unfair here is from libertarian perspective.

Many men's right benefit rich men and pretty women. Many women's right benefit top men.

Right of women to sell sex would greatly benefit rich or attractive men. Why should I settle for only one if I can pay or attract 5 women?

Usually when something benefit somebody someone else will want it illegal. Bigotry. Envy.

Which is why while I am happy that some progress are made, I think we should just embrace reality. Men compete with one another more. Of course laws are there to exterminate us. Even if we do nothing wrong someone will say we are wrong.

There is nothing wrong with selling sex. But people say it is wrong anyway due to absurd nonsense like exploitation abuse and things that aren't even well defined. Even if sex is consensual society will go the extra mile arguing it's not and encourage women to cry rape later.

It's like another business get all the customers. Doesn't matter the biz do nothing wrong. The biz do many thing right in fact. That is why the biz got many customers. But other biz driven out will say the biz is guilty of something right?

Women are historically somewhat of an opressed class.
