I think such societal developments do not happen in a rapid push, but rather they are slowly and gradually learned by the collective society. Take a person's journey as he learns a language for instance, the knowledge of that language very slowly build's up in the person's unconscience.

I don’t think so.

Misandry is on the rise; we just had the Barbie movie where every single male character had zero redeeming qualities: every one was dumb, evil, totally incompetent, wanting to subjugate women (with the only exception being Allen demonstrating that he can beat people up, and who didn’t really do anything else). And that was a huge “feminist” hit.

If anything, we’re getting to the point where open misandry is celebrated as a good thing, where the only thing wrong with sexism is when it’s anti-woman.

It’s not that male issues are overlooked as a progressive viewpoint. It’s that the topic is seen as running against the idea of progressivism itself.

People always see Sexism as similar to other kind of discriminations like Racial (whites always dominated the colored), religious (dominant religion of the country always dominated the minority), etc.

They need to understand that sexism is different, its transactional.

It only seems to be in the last 5 years or so that there’s been a wave of societal misandry, and I just find it somewhat ironic that a lot of it comes from people who claim to be on the left. Surely discussing male issues that often get overlooked is a very progressive viewpoint?

Not really?

I've been watching the rise of the modern Progressive culture over the last decade+ish, since 2011 or so. Really, I think we're talking about how Occupy Wall Street fell apart, is where I'd start it.

But as someone who has watched this...this isn't about men. Or women. Or black or white. Or Trans or Cis. Or gay or straight or whatever. It's not about any specific one issue, and because of that, expecting any specific issue to "break out" is....it's very unlikely, let me put it this way.

It's an epistemology. Some people will see it as the Oppressor/Oppressed dichotomy, and that is a good way to put it. But it's that epistemology as a whole, that's being protected, and why it's very unlikely to actually be able to discuss men's issues (for the benefit of men, to be clear).

This epistemology is at the heart of the formation of what I call modern or Pop Progressivism over the last decade-ish. It's what it runs on...it's the prime concept. And people will NOT give that up. Why? Because it's a very safe concept for those who have/want power. It doesn't actually challenge power. It puts these differences in these vague, theoretical spaces that can be shunted largely onto the out-group, rather than dealt with on an individual level.

This is why I argue, you won't see any movement on these issues until the O/O dichotomy as a whole is largely discredited. And honestly, probably a lot more forcefully than I would normally like.

But it isn't really about men, from this perspective. And I understand that this is not a lot of comfort for the people who are hit hard by the misandric rhetoric...hell, I'm one of those people. But I really don't think it is. It's about people wanting to keep and even expand their own advantages and exploit them for their own gain without being held to account for them.

Note, I'm not even saying we SHOULD do that. It's very possible, even likely, that the juice for that isn't worth the squeeze. It's simply not healthy, both on an individual and a societal level to think this way. But I also think that's why the O/O dichotomy needs to go, because it's not healthy for those that DO take it seriously and internalize it.

I don't think bringing misandry even as low as misogyny is in the "West" right now needs to take that long, but unless the eggheads put a massive dent in ageing, I don't see it happening in any of our lifetimes.

Not a chance, this isn't about equal rights between the serves, it's about owning some sort of spotlight of victim hood and yelling insults at men who haven't done you any wrong, as if the rest of us are responsible for whatever happened to you.

Living as a man is dangerous and hard, I have enough to worry about without worrying about the problems of someone who demands my support but would never support me, and on top of that wants me to "sit with the discomfort" and apologise for things i had nothing to do with, no thanks.

I'm not a feminist anymore, and I'm perfectly fine with it if you think that my issues with it mean that I "never was".

If you are really really lucky. You may get that acknowledgement. But it will be seen as par for the course and a reaction to how hard females at it.

Then men will be expected to out up with mysandry, even though its wrong.

I believe misandry and feminism need to be addressed yesterday. It's caused so much damage in society. The feminist movement, along with misandry are the soul cause for the rise of misogyny. Men are absolutely sick and disgusted with the way they are treated not only by women but systematically.

Courts throw men in jail as soon as a woman cries wolf, ruining their entire lives. Women are given jobs and pushed through school regardless if male counterparts and peers exceed women's skills. Whether it's their parents funding their daughters' school and forcing their their son's to "be a man" and pay their own way or professor's bumping up their grades. A job will hire a woman just because she's pretty regardless that she has lack of skills whereas a man, even if he is handsome, will just be viewed as competition and excluded.

Men are put down and blamed for virtually everything wrong in society. Blamed for something distant ancestors did as an excuse to gain privilege. Women initiate %70 of divorce. If it's not infidelity, it's the same "she's not happy," excuse to leave with a man's assets and collect child support to go find another. %33 percent of all men in the United States are raising someone else child. Let that sink in. Even if it is determined later in a DNA test that the child doesn't belong to a man, he still must pay child support for that child. People don't realize that child support is almost %75 of someone's total income, leaving men with almost no way to survive.

Men are all viewed as rapists and murders hence "the bear" epidemic and at the same time, women have taken no absence from increasing their body count, or as they veiw it, "empowerment." They go online and virtually scream for the death of men who have done nothing. How is this ok?

The damage that the feminist movement has done to society and the misandry that came with it have begun causing backlash among men, especially the younger generations who are now of age. Misogyny is just a product that feminism and misandry have created. Until misandry is addressed, misogyny is irrelevant and just another way to avoid accountability for what women have done.

I really hope so. One of the women on Love is Blind USA said she doesn't want to be married by a man. She said she'd be happy with "anything apart from a cis man".
