Message delivered doesn’t necessarily mean blocked. It could mean they just never opened the message. If it doesn’t say delivered or anything at all then you probably been blocked.

Nope. Delivered means delivered.

He probably just never opened the message. Which is not much better.
[–]northwoodsgirl0717 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
On Android it can still say delivered and the person opened and read the message. It never specifies whether the message was opened or read. At least my Android phone doesn't.
Sometimes guys don't reply when they don't know what they want to say. I have had that happen.
But really, if he hasn't responded in some fashion you probably have your answer. You want someone who knows they want you and doesn't have to think about it.
[–]EarthTravelerxyz 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes this is true, usually it shows read if you have the same type of android like two Samsungs texting. So if op was getting the read notice on previous text then he either got a diff phone or didn’t open the text.

OK thanks for info! I guess not too many people have my type of phone.

If I had to guess based on what you've said its because you've taken weeks to show real interest.

[–]Switchy287 25 points26 points27 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Understandable. Generally it takes me some time to develop any actual interest also. I doubt your looks are an issue if they're talking to you to begin with. Sometimes you just have to take the chance and tell them how you feel rather than waiting. If they don't reciprocate then move one 🤷♂️
[–]fresipar 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
it is normal for feelings to develop only after some time, when trust and friendship have been established. it is possible that the two of you have different expectations.
it is difficult to say what went wrong, so we cannot know if it is your fault or theirs. you can see their sudden disinterest as a significant incompatibility, and move on with your life.

Tbh in this situation it’s mainly the dude’s fault. They waited way too long to ask you on a date and may have lost interest themselves. But why ask? Because at that point they just want some validation. You gave it to them and they moved on.
The only thing I think you can do differently next time is instead of asking “when are you free?” You say “I’d like that”, and then let them ask you when you’re free. That minor difference can make a difference. If you say “when are you free” you’re already indicating that the chase is over and you’re more excited about the date than they are. Some guys who aren’t serious may see that as a validation win and be over it. Some guys like the chase though so if you show interest but not too much interest they may feel the need to pursue you further.
By jumping the gun and initiating the date and time it can also show you have no other options or that you’re a bit too excited. Unfortunately online dating sucks for most dudes and girls, you get a lot of games like this, and people who just are on there for validation. I hate it and I think it’s ruined dating but that’s just my opinion.

Nothing wrong in taking time , no one is entitled , it’s best you take time. Filters out the people who might ghost you after a one night stand. The right person will come, don’t worry
[–]ENTIMEYJ 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If you're frustrated enough and want to see results, my advice is to move quicker. Most of the time guys will end up with the girl that reciprocate their feelings the faster.
Good luck !

I’m the same way! I take a long time to talk to people, just to make sure they are interested, play a little hard to get and sometimes I am just an ass. Maybe it thrives from my own insecurities, but also I don’t wanna go out with someone, if they can’t stick around to chat. It’s like a test I guess, and if they don’t hang around and get bored then oh well. Maybe it’s also self sabotage… there is no logic too it, but this really called me out.

I would have to see the communication to have an idea what happened.
How old was he?

I'd feel like you were playing games
[–]JohnnyMnec 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hey that's very understandable, but your situation is a bit different. You were already making plans with him & your time is valuable. It only makes sense that you know for sure if you need to be free on that particular day. In that situation, it is ok to ask again or text back to cancel it, especially if you do it in a non-angry cool way.
But the point is, it is indeed disrespectful of him to not text back at least to cancel the date, unless something extreme happened. But pls don't enter this "my every interaction is like this" mindset. There are millions of guys - you can easily find the ones you like and who will respect your time. Just go out more, increase your exposure and accept that some of your experiences will be weird like this.
[–]deathbypecker 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I think you should change your way of looking at it... A day is definitely way too long. Don't think of it as coming off as thirsty. Think about it as having confidence! You may have a strong personality, but it's not always a deal breaker for all guys. Also don't make someone wait that long when 2-3 hours would have been more ideal. Was there texting in between you asking if he was free, and your second text asking about time?

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Maybe you took too long to return his interest. He felt frustrated and probably met someone else that is more responsive and with common temperament. Or he was just crazy and immature with playing such flirting games, men can be like that too.
[–]AngeloMacon 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, if you're 30 and a virgin woman (gay guy?) I'm going to guess the issue is with you and not all of mankind. It's hard to give you feedback without seeing texts or hearing the conversation. But you're doing something that scares them away.
[–]13-bald-turkeys 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
A lot of people really just want the validation of knowing they "could have" gone on a date, had a relationship, or just smashed.
Once you return their interest, they have what they want and you "don't serve a purpose" in their lives anymore.
[–]Electrical_Ad1631 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think I've had this happen to me before. This guy worked right by me and we always talked, he would take time to flag me down/stop me/converse/ask questions, and we exchanged numbers & texts, I thought I had made a new guy friend and then just all of a sudden plans fell through and he blocked me. I don't know what the point of that is though... an ego boost? trying to cure boredom? Men never seem to make any sense.

[–]punkman01 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Your original statement is incorrect. I can't speak to your experiences but that is not true for most men.
[–]h7hh77 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Could be anything really, hard to tell. Maybe he was tired of waiting, maybe he found someone else. Next time you can be more active, flirt harder, ask for a date yourself, don't wait for weeks, do it right away. You can catch feelings right then and there on a date. Treat it as an exploration, not a confirmation.
[–]Consistent_Video5154 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sounds like a) nothing t all. My guess is that you've haven't tried too many times at all, and just ended up with a bad run of luck, even though odds are this should not have happened to you more that a couple of times in a row to you. I know this sounds hard-core cliche, but keep trying. It only has to work once. Worry about being able weed through the bullshit and be able to spot the "right one" when you finally do run across him. I wish you nothing but green lights and blue skys.
[–]anubhav23 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Hey there. Want to have a conversation? Here's the thing, I've been a virgin and I'm 27 and I wish to know what I've been doing wrong as well. Maybe we can help each other out. What do you say?
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Sounds too me like you need to lower your standards for going on dates. You're waiting a month to catch feelings with someone who already established their interest for you. So just decide in that moment: am I attracted enough to this guy to go on a date (it's a binary decision, yes or no). If yes, go on a date, if no, reject him. You don't have to be in love to go on a date or even have sex, the dating and sex is part of the way you find out if you love someone.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This sounds completely fake but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and say these “men” you’re encountering are either momma’s boys, or they’re gay.
[–]shared0 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
or they’re gay.
I think OP is a gay man though.
You talk about them going back to their ex wives but you're a man.
How many of the men you're hitting on are just curious instead of homosexual?
Maybe that's a huge issue
[–]Difficult_Ad_8299 -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
A couple of weeks to go on a date it’s boring. I know I won’t vibe with someone through messaging, I need to see the person. If we don’t see each other for a date after a fry exchanges I’m out, except in extreme circumstances like holidays and stuff
[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I am 30 years old I've never had anyone hold my hand, I've never been kissed. I'm a virgin I've never been on a single damn date and I've never had a boyfriend because it never goes further than this! What the fuck am I doing wrong?
Ouch, lol that one must hurt

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
afraid or any chance he's married?
Idk the only time anything happened between a girl and i that was positive there was almost immediate interest, i know from my experience i wouldn't wait even a week before i stop talking to someone if there wasn't interest, shit there's been a few girls i went out with 4 times in the same week, especially at my age (27) there's no fuck around time anymore, either there's interest or not. So maybe just act more aggressive next time and say "Hey we should meet up soon, let's plan it, i have these days off".... the only reason a lot of us knows what seemed to have happened it because we get this constantly
[–]xxNavi 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Tbh after reading your post history. Take some shrooms or something, you need em.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You're not blocked if your message says delivered. Ghosted maybe, but not ignored.
It could honestly be anything. Maybe you come off too strong/desperate? That's one big reason why I'd pull away from a girl if she returns my interest.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Maybe you came off a certain way? I've personally stopped talking to women because they came off as rude, uninterested, disrespectful, standoffish, hostile, etc.
