I see it more as society tells us we should act one way and be "nice", but the world rewards you for not acting in that way, at least part of the time. Nice guys believe in the Just World Hypothesis; if they act as they society tells them, they will earn a cookie, or sex, or maybe it's sex with a cookie, I don't know, I don't want to judge. However, women often don't reward that behaviour, so those guys get frustrated and feel cheated when they feel they have played by the rules and have nothing to show for it, while those who break the rules win the day.

It isn't that nice guys are pretending not to be interested in women, they have been told to be respectful, to give her space, to give her time, not to pressure her and as a result they're not giving clear signals, they're indistinct, muted and probably mixed. They are playing by a rule book which has been written by a committee of fantasists. When a guy comes up who knows what he's doing and is making out with the girl in 20 minutes, who he's been hovering around for weeks, there's anger there. He feels he did everything right and this guy has taken something to which he was entitled.

It all comes from that fundamental misunderstanding of how the world works.

It's a matter of realising that the meek might inherit the earth, but only after everyone else is done with it. You can still be a good guy if you are an assertive guy. I think "nice guys" start off as good guys, but get bitter and nastily entitled as they discover society sold them a lie.

Don’t be a nice guy, be a good guy, like batman. Batman is a total asshole, he don’t take shit from anyone. He acknowledges that the world is not ideal and full of jerks who need to be put in their place. But its ok, because batman is a goodguy, his heart is in the right place. Nice guys are nice to everyone, even to their enemy. Nice guys are so nice, they say “after you” in a race and thats why they come out last. In a perfect world nice guys would be great, but this world is a cold ass competition with jerks everywhere. Women are attracted to someone tough, someone who will fight and defend them, but still has a good heart and can be caring. Be a good guy, not a nice guy, be batman.

I think most people don’t realize there is a different between being an asshole and being dickish. I have had success with women because I’m, “dickish,” I don’t treat them as special snowflakes and I shit talk with them like I would a guy friend. The guys that finish last are the ones who think women aren’t humans and are only a thing to be treated nicely and this is probably very off-putting to women who don’t want to be treated like you’re changing your whole persona to court them.

I agree. I’ve actually gotten better results being nice, but I was being genuinely nice while still being masculine/a leader.

Being nice doesn’t mean that you are a pushover. This is what I think confuses people who try to be jerks as they see jerks as people that aren’t pushovers.

Something else too is that I don’t cold approach. It’s not because I’m afraid to, but looking at it from the other side it is seriously odd for a stranger to start talking to me unless we were in a place suited for that(like a bar or a club). The irony is that I get approached more and convert more than when I tried approaching, lol

This also totally comes down to being too agreeable of a person. People who are too agreeable often don't excel too far in life because they either settle for less than what they want or are exploited for their agreeableness. It's not at all a masculine quality and it disallows you to come off as a more dominant figure, which women absolutely look for in a man.

While there are obvious pitfalls with being too disagreeable, disagreeable people also tend to get more out of life from the average agreeable person. They aren't going to settle for less than what they want, they're going to say exactly what they think, and they will come off very masculine in these ways.

The concept of "Nice" is often misunderstood.

You can "nice" -- be gentleman who treats women well, who listens to her,who takes care of her, are a good lover inside and outside the bedroom,etc.

You shouldn't be this "nice" -- who lies or hides your true intentions...who manipulates people into getting what you want by putting up a front.. who is a pushover.

I think it's important to note there's 2 different kinds of "Nice Guys".

The Pseudo Nice Guy: This is the guy who is nice up until the point of rejection, then he transforms into a jerk who insults the woman. He's only acts nice because he thinks it will get him laid.

The Genuine Nice Guy: This is the guy who is nice all the time. When rejected he is disappointed or depressed. He acts nice not only because he thinks it will get him laid, but also because he thinks it's morally correct behavior.

In either case, the problem is the same. Just being a "nice guy" isn't an effective strategy. A man that is too agreeable and subservient is not attractive to women. At best, it's dull and boring. At worst, it's corny and pathetic.
