Eckhart Tolle has some nice books! I've read "The Power of Now" and that worked wonders. It is exactly about that: how we sabotage ourselves. If you have a open mind about spirituality books, i would suggest you to read "The Four Agreements", by Miguel Ángel Ruiz. He is such a shaman guy. If you are interested, the agreements are:

Be Impeccable With Your Word. Don't Take Anything Personally. Don't Make Assumptions. Always Do Your Best.

He goes deep into those agreements. He has even the book "the fifth agreement", that is about "Be Skeptical but Learn to Listen". Dunno you guys, but for me, this is as much as learning about pick-up and self improvement as it can get

i would have to recommend "how to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie. it's full of life lessons and changes the way you think/act for the better. with girls or not.

Read the "Power of Now," changed my life – loved it.

I've been hesitant to pick up "A New Earth", though, because I heard it was mainly the same stuff in Power of Now with a different title.

Is it different enough that I should check it out?

A long while back I read "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky. It's fiction and relatable for the younger crowd (high school/college), but it definitely had me think about some real shit at the time.

Funny, i actually bought that bok like 2 weeks ago and havent read it. Now I am gonna dive into it when I get home. And to be honest i picked it up because guys like Tyler and Sinn talked about it. Kinda feel silly for doing the same things they do lol.

Dude i totally agree with you, this was the exactly the same case with me. Ive been lurking seddit for about a week and felt like it was helping me a little bit, then i listen to a bunch of Tolle and it was amazing and all the stuff i learned here just clicked, i feel like a whole new person now. congrats man.

I don't really have the time to write a big review but I recommend that book to everyone. It's a little spiritual though, but it makes a lot of sense and Isn't talking about supernatural things.

I would recommend the prophet for anyone that feels like they have low self-esteem or low self worth. I don't know if that's a cliched book, but it has always inspired me. It's short too! You just have to have an open enough mind to get around some of the Christian references.

I started reading a New Earth and there are some definite problems with it. Tolle seems hell bent on this concept that to silence the voice in your head is akin to evolving and being in a completely superior state. He thinks that people that think too much are afflicted with some sort of disease. Tolle hasn't considered that maybe some people enjoy thinking and some people don't think negative things all the time. Furthermore, while there's a certain sweetness to silencing your mind, after about 5 minutes it gets fucking boring. My favorite part of the book is when Tolle claims that Descartes, the father of modern philosophy, got it wrong when he said "I think, therefor I am." LOL. Maybe, just maybe, Tolle misunderstands Descartes? Tolle can really comes off as a pretentious dick-wad, the very thing he preaches against...
