I’d avoid worrying about things you can’t control, and romantic interest is one of those things. You can’t negotiate attraction. There’s a concept from the Tao Te Ching called ‘Wu Wei’ which means ‘non action’ ‘not forcing’ or ‘effortless action’ basically meaning not forcing things to happen, rather allowing them to happen. I started applying this in 1985 and my romantic life began to unfold, it simply started moving towards me. I kept my voice low and slow, dressed nicer than was required for the occasion, spoke and moved with the minimum appropriate level of force. It all came together.

iois are for gauging interest AFTER you have approached. Be bold and approach someone who catches your eye, and pay attention for iois over the course of the interaction

In some cases, there are IOI signals before you approach, but there are IOI signals AFTER you approach.

Of course, it is easier to approach someone when you see IOI, but you can also approach someone without receiving an initial IOI signal.

Just pay attention to the obvious signals like eye contact, touching hair, giggling (which can be confused with shyness), but you will always know if you are welcome to talk to them or not, there is no need to become an expert in body language.

What makes men unattractive to most women from a distance:

Being too fat or too skinny. Check your BMI to see that you're within the "normal" range. If you have a ton of muscle and a 15% fat or lower percentage, being in the overweight category is also okay.
A disheveled appearance (often things like unkept long hair and / or beard). Dirty / old clothes or shoes.

So the clothes either don't fit well, have bad fabric, you aren't dressed for the function (weather, wanting attention from women), or they aren't fashionable at the moment.

You want to look for eye contact. Either she will give you the resting bitch face, roll her eyes, or lock eyes with you. If eye contact is established, her eyes and facial expression will tell you exactly what to do. Generally if she has a happy relaxed look she is open to an approach, sometimes this will start other iois. I'm in a similar situation but I know that I'm not ugly (cliché, I know). I rarely see girls showing me any signs whatsoever or looking at me at all but friends have repeatedly told me that I get a lot of attention and I have some sort of special charisma when in a public setting or out clubbing. Idk what to do with it 🤷‍♂️

Don't worry about iois prior to approaching. Women can find you to be very physically attractive, and you can be their type, but they still won't give you iois in certain instances. Instead, you have to be bold and just approach a woman regardless of any indicator she gives you. If you rely on indicators of interest, there will be very few women for you to approach. So, just be courageous and bold and go for it.

If I waited for a woman to give me nonverbal permission to approach her I would not have dated nearly as many women as I have in my life.
