This sub offers a lot of great advice, and I think we can all learn something from it. Even people who are successful at "picking up" men/women can learn something from it. One huge problem though is the fact age is pretty much never mentioned in any advice, and this is a huge problem.

We've all heard the saying "Age is just a number", but that's completely false, and that's not my opinion, there are scientific studies to back up what I'm saying. We go through major developmental changes until we're 18 years old, and from 18-21ish, we even go through a slight developmental stage. On top of development, we prioritize things differently depending on our age.

The people on this page seem to completely ignore this fact, or actually don't think age matters. I will see dating advice on how to get a girlfriend/boyfriend, and people seem to think that advice applies to a 13 year old the same way it applies to a 65 year old, and it's comical.

For instance, middle school aged humans(aged 11-14) pretty much only care about looks. My brother is an 8th grade teacher and he told me both the boys and girls tell him(brutally honest at this age) they will only date a boy/girl if they are good looking. And I believe this, because I remember that's how everyone was when I was that age.

When people hit the high school age range(Late 14-Early 18), things already change. Boys still pretty much only go for looks, and girls go for the most popular guys in the school, regardless of what they look like. Girls often think a guy approaching them is "creepy", unless he is hot, and/or popular.

The traditional college age(Late 18-early 20's) is the absolute worst time for men in the dating scene. The women in this age range are far pickier than they ever will be in their life, since they have the ultimate selection. They care about how much money a man has, how good looking he is, AND how popular he is. Worst of all, they still call men "creepy" just for approaching them. Men this age are still fixated on looks, but men will also begin to notice girls for their personality, and common interests.

Then, comes the second wave of young adulthood(25-39 years old). Things get better for everyone: Men finally realize sex, and looks aren't that important, women hit their sexual libido peak, and realize that personality/romance are more important than popularity/money. This is a great time to marry, have kids, but it's also a good time for men to have fun.

As a straight 28 year old male, I have no experience with people 40 and over, or homosexual relationships. However, I wouldn't doubt if we all change against throughout cycles.

I know this post will anger the politically correct crowd, but biology isn't PC. I don't think anyone can sit there with a straight face and say age really is just a number, because it's not.
