I look at it this way. Think of all the truly impressive guys you’ve known in your life. The ones that people seem to be drawn to, are accomplished, just kind of do their own thing.

Did any of them ever self-identify or verbally promote themselves as an alpha male? Not in my experience. Most of those guys I knew would laugh at that concept and call it insecure.

And yes, Joe Rogan put on a master class on how to calmly call someone out on their bullshit with this guy. Would recommend watching the interview.

Lol. An alpha male is a male who has significant power and influence over others. A man with lots of money, lots of friends/high social standing/good reputation, good looks, attractive skill sets etc. may potentially have power and influence over others. As certain people do possess traits which increases their power and influence above to level of other people, we can deduce that alpha males exist.

To claim that alpha males don’t exist is to claim that everyone has an equal amount of power and influence (which is absurd.)

The alpha/beta fantasy is at best a very sideways method of accessing the basic OCEAN traits in psychology, and is more often than not a perverse representation of social hierarchies. The question is: what do you want to use it for? As an academic concept to be debated, I'm sure it's too simplistic as academics love to overcomplicate things (Source: used to be one)

But as a simple heuristic or framework for assessing a social hierarchy, it can be a useful tool. We know that sexual success follows a power law distribution with the top % of males banging most of the women, while the bottom 80% fight over scraps.

Qualities like charisma, confidence, sophistication, morality, love etc are in different levels in different men. Alpha & beta and all those other groups are just labels trying to swallow all these qualities and present it like a brand. Reality is different. There are lumberjacks with massive beards and hefty physiques who love getting drunk on cranberry vodka and margheretis. Labels are fucking stupid.

I frankly don’t believe in alpha/beta male bullshit. That’s a concept borrowed by studies about wolves (which sometimes have to fight to death), not humans.

Also, a lot of people misinterprets what it means to be charismatic and leader with being alpha-macho male. That’s just toxic.

You can have or develop traits which make you more charismatic and leader to others (also depending by context), but that doesn’t define someone as alpha.

Same for the so called “beta”s, they just are people which can be ok even without emerging from other males.

I don’t have macho-traits, I don’t like to lead or putting myself above others on purpose. Still, people gives me leadership (or asks me to lead them), still they think I’m super-confident, and many girls try to test my frame (because they cant’t believe I’m really like that, at first glance).

The "Alpha Male" concept is disproven scientifically.

However, I think the term serves really well to describe certain characteristics. So it's really useful in conversation imo to describe someone confident, popular, assertive etc. or simply the person exhibiting leader-like behavior (be it a man or a woman). I noticed however, that some people associate the term "alpha" with being a douchebag, so it's worth clarifying that that's not what I understand when I hear someone saying alpha.

Tl;dr: Term "Alpha" just as a crutch in conversation. Alpha = confident, compassionate, assertive, popular, 'leader-like'....

Ideally, as men, we shouldn't have the time to debate this. But, let me answer your question. "Alpha male" is a term that describes something. Generally how words work is that if you think the term is accurate, you use it, or not (we're at the point where we have many words anyway, so you have choice). Then, if other people begin using it in the same context, it becomes more real and takes on a life of it's own. This applies to the term alpha male. Use it, believe in it, it doesn't matter. It's just words. We know who the quote unquote "alpha males" are, and the alpha males know that they're alpha males. That's what matters. And in most cases, they don't even give a damn.

Adam Conover is a bit weird. He's constantly gone on record contradicting himself, exposing himself as what would be a "beta" (only women friends, unconditionally supporting the feminist movement), has a team who writes his content for him, and quite often says things in his videos that aren't true. He says "right?" after every sentence in interviews which could show he doesn't actually have any conviction in anything he says.

The alpha/beta situation does exist imo. A man who works out, fucks, is socially sound, is financially stable, and fulfilled in life, is an alpha, and will emit the energy, regardless of what situation he's in. Even if he's sitting at a table with a bunch of neckbeards playing DnD, having never played before, he's going to be diligent, assertive, willing to learn, and will accept defeat humbly if he loses.

Adam Conover is just insecure. I mean, look at him. That face is the soy archetype.

Yes they exist, you should also watch the Joe Rogan interview where Adam is challenged on what he says in the video and fails to come up with any concrete studies or proof.

At the end of the day, you have people who are more likely to take control of a group of people and there are people who will happily let this happen. Look at how group projects work at uni or at work, there's normally one person who assumes responsibility of driving things forward and getting stuff done. In order to do that you need to have a certain disposition, capable of disagreeing with others, challenging ideas, making sure that people are pulling their weight.

People are so triggered by the labels but they don't matter, call them whatever you want, it's about what these labels represent not what they are. This has been proven in studies where people have had to negotiate a split of cash, disagreeable people (alpha's) mostly negotiated so that they would have more, then they would say to other person you either accept or we both leave with nothing. Agreeable people were more likely to accept that offer and make do with simply getting less but still getting something. If the opponent was another disagreeable person, they would refuse to accept and both people would leave with nothing. As you can see, it's not as black and white as adam makes it out to be.

No, I dont really belive in the alpha male thing, because so amy people missuse the word. The most charismatic and attractive guys ive met are both also very physically atractive and are both really nice people. One of them has never braged about anything while I know him, yet every girl who knows him dig him. Ive met guys who fit the "youtube alpha" perfectly (two specifically) one got a lot of girls, but half were drunk and regretted it, the other was hated by a lot. Again, bot looked above average. You have the guy who made "alpha male" a social thing (franz de vaal) hating the term. Me and a friend (Im fat, he'@short) have sleept with more than my "alpha" friends.

Its not a thing. You cant be alpha in all cases. We have moved beyond that. You can have a position of influence, but that is still counting on your social skills. Just be a great guy, dont be needy, allways try to become better, and do your best to have a good life. And be in shape. Everything else is BS and snake oil sales

This is an attack on Alpha males and veneration of Beta males. It is a dichotomy we understand intuitively. Alpha = strong/dominant and Beta = weak/submissive.

Does it exist? Yes. You can do away with the labels Alpha and Beta if you want to but the fact is there are strong men who are dominant/assertive and there are weak men who are subservient. Are there in betweens? Sure probably. Instead of focusing on the labels focus on the traits and characteristics.

How does this apply to seddit? Well you want to be assertive and dominant for success with women. Dominance and Confidence are attractive qualities. Submissiveness, insecurity, weakness are not attractive to women.

Alphabetaare just words to describe two types of men. There’s absolutely men who are more alpha and women are more drawn to them. Alpha isn’t necessarily about being jacked or a Hardass who can a lot of people think. For example mick jagger would fall under alpha male and he’s pretty damn flamboyant in a lot of ways.
From what I’ve read on him he pretty much runs the show and people follow him and his lead as opposed to him following others. There’s the men all the women want and the men who struggle to get a date or never get the girl they really want.

There’s the guy who wants to be the best at everything he does because it will put him in a better position for more opportunity and then there’s the guy that his content being a mid level guy or basic worker.

In the date world it would pretty much go Alpha males Alpha females Beta females Beta males Omega females Omega males

Women rarely get vet date down is why there so many men who struggle to get girls or the girl they want. All the women compete for the guys above them and since there’s not enough to go around many women will then settle for a beta male. That’s why so many women aren’t available to most guys until they are like 30 and it’s not just the women matured........ if they could’ve locked down the higher value guy they would have. Many women would even rather be one mans side piece than another mans everything.........

Who’s the alpha in the room can switch based on the setting they are in. If you have a super confident nerd in a computer club and that’s what all the girls in the club care about as well is the computers and knowledge of it. The typical alpha male might not be seen as the alpha in the room if the nerd is the one leading things and calling all the shots cuZ he’s in his world.

Same could go for a locker room of athletes. In basketball Michael Jordan was 100% the alpha male in the room but in baseball locker room it was most likely someone else.

There’s always some bigger and badder and someone younger up and coming who wants your spot but there’s definitely a social hierarchy. Just look at highschool...... the same pattern plays out into adult good but a lot more people become datable and the world gets bigger so it’s easier for people who may not have had the greatest rep to move passed it.
The same basic dynamic plays out in almost every setting. Your starting a new job, there’s the guy all the girls like and want, the guy all the girls see as just a friend but don’t want to fuck, the creepy weird guy who they feel stares at them to long and so on........... If you feel the need to express to people that your an alpha then your probably not one........ Most people are a mix of both and some are alpha at work and beta as fuck around women. Some guys are the reverse....... the main difference between the two is the mindset of abundance. If you always got the girl in the past why would this next one be any different? That confidence goes a long way and sub communicates to women that your a high value man with options.

If women ask you if your confident and high value all men will lie which is why they pay such close attention to us and most of this stuff isn’t her thinking logically, it’s more her body determining who she should be attracted to and shouldn’t be based on subconscious cues.

Attraction isn’t something people choose which is why so many women choose partners they swear they don’t want

Alpha to me is just shorthand for a person exhibiting dominant / leadership traits and contextual to the situations we find ourselves in.

We ourselves exhibit varying degrees of 'alpha-ness' depending on whether we are at work, in a social group, volunteering somewhere etc.

Similar to bisexuality, I think it's better to see it as a spectrum and contextual to the situations at hand.

Does alpha exist? To me it does, but in a manner that's not useful for conveying very precise and accurate meaning, in many cases another word might serve better.

I also do agree, in most cases, the true 'alphas' never bother with the term nor label themselves that.

Just do your thing, continue to grow and develop into the best version of ourselves that we can be. The rest is semantics, don't waste too much time on it.
