Some days are great, other days and weeks really hurt brother. My stbx was incredibly fun and we had a lot of good times together, I really love(d) her. But that didn’t mean she was a good partner so eventually I had to call it. But yeah when I think of our last family vacation this time last year, shit really hurts. You just gotta hold out for better days.

I'm the one who initiated the divorce, served her, wanted it all to be done. I still had a really nasty depressive episode that lasted quite a while.

I've been feeling the same way, and I'm sure most of the men in this subreddit feel this way. Never again will I go through with marriage, and might not even have a family. Feel like I gave so much for this person who basically just threw me and everything we built away. Fortunately we don't have a kid together, but it's tough to realize that it was for nothing.

I always feel like I could be a marriage counselor and speak to people that are about to get married. This is not date night anymore, picking her up and she smells good and she looks hot and you're going to have great sex. This is a day in day out grind, you're going to hate that person more than you've ever hated somebody at times, you're going to see that person at their worst, that person may lie and betray you, so before you say those vows when they say for better or worse you better understand what that means.

Looking at stats, about 20% of marriages are good for both partners . If you were playing Russian roulette you would not play with those odds.
