I used to be a typical nice guy in middle/high school. I could talk to girls easily as friends, but when I liked them, I would always act super nice and courteous (like how you’d act around a boss or teacher). I wouldn’t throw tantrums when this didn’t work, but I did build up some resentment from being friendzoned so many times.

Now I’m not sure when I’m being too nice. If I am on a date, obviously I want her to like me and for it to lead to sex, so I act “polite”—but I don’t know if this registers as just being a nice guy. I tend to be on my best behavior, but I don’t know if I’m come across as boring.

For example, if a girl is telling me a story that I think is boring, I will still listen and respond. I won’t say, “I don’t want to talk about that,” and I will still give her advice/validate her emotions if she’s venting about something. I also tend to hide parts of my personality, because I don’t know these girls that well.

I am also afraid of MeToo shit. I have always been terrible with kino, and I don’t know how to bring up sex without just kissing her…which I typically don’t do either, unless I’m 100% sure she wants me to kiss her.

I think I’m just fearing rejection, but how should I change my approach? If I like a girl, I do not want her to reject me, so I spend time thinking about how to calibrate my interactions with her (like a video game or something).

How can I avoid the friendzone?
