I see two objectives here which are typically contradictory: you can't have a woman want to divorce you and not want to hurt you. Divorce is an attack, it's pain, it induces strife, these terms are synonymous even in "amicable" divorces.

To answer your question, directly, there is a very easy way to make her want divorce: misbehave. Send your money energy attention and time (MEAT) to an outlet she does not want it going to. The most common default "outlet" women resent MEAT going to is another woman (give her your meat stick) but it could really be anything.

Go to a relationship therapist by yourself, explain that you are avoiding conflict and guilt, then explain this situation. They will validate that it’s perfectly fine to feel this way and fine to act on it. They will help you work through this and ask you the questions knowing your own answers will guide you out. No one should be trapped, or trap themselves.

Also, if you want your partner to have decent mental health, don’t play these mind games with them. Mine kept doing more absurd shit that no one should have patience for until I finally had a tiny reaction then she left me as if I was so flawed she couldn’t take me anymore. Really screwed up my head for a couple months until a therapist got me to the point I could realize the mental game she’d been playing just to avoid feeling guilt and shame for breaking up our family and leaving ‘such a wonderful guy’ (gag!). If she’d just been honest about whatever she was going through, we could have moved on years ago. And if I could have been honest with myself about what I was putting up with, I could have moved on years ago.

In the future, make better choices. The mother and the sons were there long before you married this person. You need to spend a lot more time futurecasting the impact of your decisions.

I'm going to tell you something I learned years ago. If you want out of a relationship, you tell the other person and you leave. Making someone want to leave you means you're going to be a jerk. Be better than that. You made a commitment to this woman.

I doubt her entire family has drastically changed in a year and a half so you should have known what you were getting into. Regardless of whether you knew or not, you're where you are today. The only thing that matters is where you go from here.

You either honor your vows and find a way to work things out with this woman or you break those promises and end things yourself. Breaking your vows is bad enough. Don't try to turn her into the bad guy who breaks her vows because you've changed your mind. This is the divorced men sub, not the wanting to divorce spineless wimp sub.
