In February I got a protective order against my ex for drunkenly showing up at the marital home on my night and physically assaulting me. In the filing, we noted that she had been abusing alcohol for well over a year and a half that we had documented in a prior police report.

Well I got her financial disclosures and during January and February she was spending ~$400 a month at the state liquor store, more than a quarter of her income. Broke down to about a bottle of vodka every 1.5 days.

Truth be told, she’s buying for the house as her “rent” contribution. But when I asked her if she was okay because I was obviously concerned that she might have been drinking that much she said angrily “you set me up to look like an alcoholic!”

I died laughing inside because, of course, somehow her drunken behavior and spending so much at the liquor store when we were no longer together, is part of my grand plan to make her look like an alcoholic.

I miss aspects of my marriage, but definitely not her inability to own any of her shit.
