She has been banging someone else for a long time and planning this. Once a woman is done with you, you are just a money-puppet. It's over - moving on, which easy to say and hard to do, is your only chance at peace.

I am certain that she found someone else. When people say, "I love you but am not in love with you," 99% of the time, the spouse has found someone new. I strongly believe she had someone else waiting in the wings and was secure in this, or she would have kept him as a backup plan until she was sure of the new relationship. She ended the marriage without counselling or working things out, so she must have been happy in her new relationship. It's a harsh reality, but this happens so often. People who do this need to be upfront and not give their spouses false hope.

I think our society is creating a toxic culture where women are told to hate men. They are being bombarded by social media and pop psychologists who rant about toxic masculinity and nurture a victim complex for their personal financial gain (ie, ad revenue and likes). I support equal opportunity and pay for women, as well as access to abortion rights. But our current media landscape paints men as the enemy. Donald Trump isn’t helping things when he is convicted for raping women or paying off porn stars after sex.

If you are told to hate men, at some point you may realize you are sleeping next to one, and no matter all their good qualities, your husband is still a part of the oppressor class harming women like you…

Right there with you. She started on a “spiritual journey” a couple years ago and decided I was something that didn’t fit what she wanted in her new life anymore. Suddenly everything she didn’t like about herself and her life was somehow my fault after 25 years.

That was most likely a fake post, but this does happen in reality. The good news for men close to retirement is that simple 401K cash out, offshore fixed income investments and no property makes it impossible for the wife to get any marital property

She knows there’s money to be made off a divorce. Many states have passed alimony reform laws that require a marriage to last 20 years for the woman to be eligible for alimony. Holy shit the look on my ex wife’s face when the judge told her she didn’t qualify for alimony because we were only together for 13 years and I paid for her college education was pure horror. She thought that it was open and closed that she was going to get alimony.
