I'm in CT

Me: 58M, her: 57F

Married, 30 years with 2 adult age kids.

~$260k in home equity <$50k in 401k

I filed for divorce. I earn $200k-$250k. Wife earns basically nothing although she's a licensed RDH. She hasn't had steady income in 20-25 years.

Our pre-trial judge has Recommended 10 years of alimony, $700/week, (term: non-modifiable, amount: modifiable). I pay one year of wife's car lease ($346/month), pay 2 more years of my sons car lease ($309/month), pay balance of sons college Sallie Mae loan ($25k), I pay balance of joint CC, ($7500). Wife gets contents of the house and $50k off the top from the sale of the house. We then split the remaining equity from the sale of the house. I also need to carry an insurance policy for $250k naming ex-wife benefactor. I keep my 401k. I feel like I'm getting screwed. My lawyer says we either go with the pre-trial judge's recommendations or go to trial where I risk 15 years or more of alimony. Thoughts?
