I'm seriously considering getting divorced. Have any men out there been the ones to make the first move? I recently had a calm conversation with wife and made it very clear that I can't go on living the way we've been living and I'm really thinking about divorcing her. Her response was to double down and act even crazier, it's like she tries to make things worse instead of better. Coming to the realization that I would simply be better off without her as a partner, whether life gets easier or harder without her, has been huge for me and I'm trying to figure out the best way to move forward.

Is it possible to bring it up without the conversation going to far off the rails? I don't want her to suffer or be financially ruined forever. My hope is to mediate and come up with the most fair scenario possible. I'm even ok with giving her a little more than what's fair in the end just in the hopes of lessening her resentment and making it easier to coparent going forward. I just don't want to be married to her anymore.

For context, we both make comparable salaries and have similar amounts in our retirement accounts. The main issue is we rent a house from my aunt and she's made it clear "she will never leave". So I'm trying to approach the subject as nicely as I can but at the same time I'm telling her she'll have to leave our home, which obviously isn't going to make her too happy. I'll take all the advise/experience I can get, thank you.
