How do you have a fun conversation with a girl who doesn’t ask questions about you?

I’ve been reading a lot of openers on this sub. They range from complimenting the girl on something, ask her what the occasion is etc. But something I really don’t understand is, how do escalate to fun a conversation after these openers? How do you actually respond to a girls who responds and tells you her name? Or says ‘thanks’? Or tells you that they’re out for a girls night? I don’t want to keep asking more questions as it turns into an interview. I just can never see how any of these openers will progress as most girls aren’t going to just ask questions, which may not necessarily mean they aren’t interested. It’s so hard to get them engaged in something fun to talk about
