Why does it bother you that she takes him to church? I am not religious. I am somewhere between god believing and atheist but have no interest in religion. I would be very happy if my kids found god. This sounds like a YOU problem

She’s going to take a 2 year old to church haha. Unless they have childcare, that will last all of the 5 min a 2 year old sits still.

What does the custody agreement say? Some states make it in the custody agreement or divorce agreement where one parent has the ability to/ right to be in charge of the religious duties/beliefs of the children.

Similar situation for me, but the ex has become highly into the occult, astrology, magic crystals, etc.

I take my child to church with me on my weekends to counteract that.

I had this same issue….. both of us were non religious but as soon as i filed she became super devout…. I just let it be… i had way bigger fish to fry in the divorce

It’s not going to hurt the kid. He or she will make up their own mind about religion eventually, as all people do, no matter what you or she does. That’s life.

Full disclosure, I am an atheist (and she actually tried to use it against me in court).

This is definitely a big no-no because it is considered a legal decision, but enforcement will be virtually impossible.

The thing you have going for you is that generally church is boring as fuck for any child (and adults like me), so they’re going to want to leave the entire time they are there anyway. Obviously a two year old isn’t going to pick up too much of either of the content from the testaments (i’m just assuming some form of christianity).

Just let it go for now. The more YOU make a big deal about it to her, the more she will push the jesus.

Since you both have 50/50 custody, she’s usually allowed to take your child to church during her time, just like you can choose not to during yours. Unless it’s something big like baptism or in your custody agreement, it’s hard to stop. If it really bothers you, try talking to her or contact an attorney for advice.
