A lot of people consider her ring to be her property, and most judges don't divide the value. Sadly that's a lost asset.

it's one of the things the little dears don't want for "feelingz" but is valuable monetarily

This is something that confuses me. Why would anyone want to keep her engagement or wedding rings?

They’re now just cursed trinkets that represent the failure from a woman that gave up, broke up a marriage and family. She’s keeping them and I hope the curse stays with her for life.

Mine said she would want to turn the engagement ring into something to eventually pass down to our daughter. Just goes to show she has no connection or places no value on what that ring represented. It’s just a thing.

I guess she viewed our marriage and family the same, just something that really didn’t mean anything to her.

I would have thrown it into the ocean or along the side of the road if I kept it.

Your state may have guidelines on what happens to the engagement and wedding bands.

If you paid $5k for a ring, you'll get about $400 for it at a reputable jewelry store. Basically scrap value. That's just the way it is.

If she's taken it off and left it in a box, I believe contract law regarding "abandoned property" applies. But again, you'd want to make sure your state laws don't say differently. If she's expressed any interest in keeping or selling "her" rings don't put yourself in a sticky situation.

An engagement ring is a promise until you are married. If she breaks the promise before you are married you get it back. If you break the promise before marriage, she keeps it as recompense.

Once you are married the engagement ring is a gift.

Wedding rings are community property.

Lesson here; spend less on engagement.

I took engagement, wedding mine and his because he was abusive as recompense.

Left everything else.

I literally threw mine out of the window driving one day… it was worth maybe $500 new, (hers $15k) and I figured rather than even deal w selling it, I’d give someone a chance to find it one day and have a story they’ll remember for the rest of their life, as who would forget finding a gold ring…. Hers? I have no idea, but it was the most valuable possession she had from a financial standpoint anyways
