I have found this has reaffirmed the bullying I have experienced from girls growing up in the 1990s. I have been made fun of, teased, and bullied by what were equally girls and boys but the most effective bullying I experienced that I couldn’t retaliate against is what this study talks about - relational aggression. This includes anything from mocking, to the exclusion in social settings, to rumor spreading. I could always defend myself against bullies who used physical violence through self-defense.

For what it’s worth, I think girls and grown women alike have been experts with the exploitation of boys and men’s insecurities, while keeping their own insecurities tucked away for nobody to see (or insecurities that may not be as recognizable to someone who isn’t as observant).
