i'm a woman completing grad school in what is generally regarded as a very "male-dominated" field. Unfortunately, one of the primary reasons I chose this path is because I bought into feminism in college. I became convinced that I had to pursue the careerist life and avoid family/children/relationships, and that doing anything less would be selling myself out to the patriarchy and setting myself up for life in an oppressive relationship with someone who does not respect me. These ideas weren't developed in a vacuum; they grew over years and years of exposure to media and pop culture subtly infused with them and influence by peers who bought into the same BS. I realized in graduate school that I had chosen the wrong path. The boss babe path didn't fulfill me or make me happy, as is the case for the majority of women. I've realized how much of an absolute lie feminism is. Men and women are different. Our hormones operate on different cycles and our brains work differently. Women aren't suited for intensely high-pressure environments, and we've pushed them into these environments and told them that choosing that path over a loving and happy family is what is truly fulfilling. And then we wonder why women are on more mental health medications than ever before, and men are struggling as well because women are being brainwashed to hate men and abandon family/relationships. It is truly such an insidious and disgusting ideology and the extent to which it has influenced society and ruined every aspect of gender relations is just insane to think about.
