I was just at the store after work, picking up a couple of things I needed. I prefer to make smaller trips at the store throughout the week when I need to, rather than do a big trip every week or two. My ex would always argue with me about this because she wanted to plan out every single meal for the whole week, and I'm much more comfortable making meal decisions on the fly.

Anyway, I'm walking down the aisle to grab some coffee when I pass this younger couple, and I can already feel the tension. As I walk past, I hear her saying "would you just look at me??" and "I don't care I'll make a big scene." This was all too familiar to me, since my ex and I would always get into arguments at the store over the dumbest things. She would get overwhelmed and then just shut down, and want to figure out/argue about something right then and there. I would always try to at least move her out of the aisle to somewhere a bit more out of the way, but she would just stay put and not move until we finished our argument. And God forbid I said something along the lines of "it's not that big of a deal", her response would be "oh so you think I'm making this a big deal huh??"

I grabbed my coffee and checked out, in and out of the store in just a few minutes. It feels so good knowing I can just go get what I want/need. And if I realize I need something else? I'll run out to the store again. It's not that big of a deal 😉
