Nah, if anything it's the opposite for me. I've been teaching the boy to pick up his own stuff, and I do chores while he's playing, watching TV or whatever. When he's gone, I am feral.

100%. It's not a circus, though. Dishes go in the dishwasher, etc, but if/when the pot boils over on the stove, that baked on mac & cheese emulsion water stays put on the glass cooktop until they are back with their mom.

I think it helps that I can just focus on the kids, have better quality time than I ever did before and try not to worry about the little stuff like a messy kitchen or whatever. Then I can power clean and enjoy the house being perfect for a couple weeks. (doing two week rotations). After awhile, even my oldest daughter would clean things which she never used to do before. I never asked her to, she just deep cleaned last week.

I think the time we spend now is better than before. So the 50/50, loss in time with them doesn't mean you can't improve the time you have and almost more than make up for it.

No, I use it as a time to teach my kids how to keep a house organized and how to clean properly.

My ex was a clean freak.

Actually broke down in tears one day because I never ruffled the curtains properly.

Nope, not just you at all. I have one five year old girl for half the week and she turns the place upside down every time.

I live with the chaos and deal with it when the ex leaves with her.

I do this too. I keep up with most of the daily cleaning, dishes, laundry, etc. But there are somethings that are easier to clean when they leave. Deep clean bathrooms, floors, etc.

I tell everyone I like them to have a blank canvas when they get back to me. They really are artist when it comes to destroying this place.

I tend to clean while they're entertaining themselves. Sometimes they help, but I think it's important to show 'normal life' as much as fun stuff.

It gets dirtier than I prefer. They go to their mother's on Sundays, so that afternoon we do a bunch of chores. Once they're gone, I do a big clean again.

Disgustingly dirty? No. Is it dirtier than when I'm home alone? Of course. I have three kids, it's near impossible to keep it perfect.
