Assuming the parents could just give it up for adoption then yeah I think that could work ethically for me but I don't think it's practical.

It may lead to a lot of kids without enough people willing to adopt. I imagine it'd be insanely expensive to implement something like this too and taxes would have to be raised or insurance would go way up.

The government forcibly harvesting my embryo doesn’t sound like it respects my body autonomy let alone my privacy. The procedure is also probably way more medically invasive and traumatizing than just taking an abortion pill…

Aside from those issues, this raises a lot of other ethical issues like wtf is going to happen to those embryos once they’re artificially birthed. If they’re not profitable, are the children going to be sold into labor? Trafficked? Like you have to consider the humanity and bodily autonomy of the born children as well, and this idea doesn’t sound like it ends well.

Who will care for a child?

What men don't understand is that 1) just paying child support is actually getting out of it easy. 2) how most men are not ready for what it takes to care for a child, and i mean primary care, not weekend dad.

What i see in a lot of pro-birth debates is that no one thinks what will happen after, and we kind of have to. Because yeah, life is valuable, yada yada, but will it be this precious when it is formed armed gangs and start terrorizing neighborhoods. It's not enough to just give birth. If you want to live in a comfortable society you have to actually also care for a child. And not just throw some food and clothes at them, but really care. Or it will bite you in the ass.

What i see now is that even women don't understand what it takes, the scope of it (i know mothers who gave birth and were completely not ready for what came next, and they were good people, they read a lot, took parenting classes, everything. It's not enough). Men? Men like to fantasize about what good dads they will be but most of them can't even comprehend what it takes. We saw it blow up during covid. We see it in women's complaints how men make it worse. Men usually drop their part without children. With it - it's catastrophical.

It's easy to make decisions you will not pay for or pay symbolically. Because child support is a symbolic payment. It's not even 10% of what it takes to raise a child. Not even 5%.

So back to the point. Artificial wombs. Okay. And who will care for a child? Because i won't. A father? I will give it away with "paper abortion". He can enjoy if that's so dear to him. But no take backsies. Or already overwhelmed system that we hear horror stories about? Is that what we want for kids?

No? Do you think anyone wants to be cut open? It would be solved by women electing to sterilize themselves in favor of using an artificial womb if they want a kid. By that’s still a choice to be made.

I don't think that's scientifically possible, but if it was there would still be abortion.

Some foetuses still wouldn't be medically viable or would suffer severe health defects if they were born. There would still be rape and incest pregnancies. And there would still be people who don't want to create a child even if pregnancy didn't have to be involved. Most abortions are carried out not because a woman doesn't want to be pregnant but because neither she nor her sex partner want to bring a child into the world for whatever reason.
