What the fuck is wrong with you people defending circumcision? Is it really that hard to admit that cutting off part of a persons genitals before they are old enough to give consent is wrong?

Every time I see an article or thread about FGM where a guy brings up MGM in the comments he's told it's not the place to discuss it. He's told to stop hijacking a serious discussion about a problem that affects a tiny percentage of women worldwide with his inconsequential "what about teh menz" whining. Now apparently we can't even discuss it on the men's rights sub without being told how much worse FGM is.

You know what I think is worse? The fact that me and almost every man I've ever met didn't get to decide whether or not he wanted to keep his entire penis. While almost every single American woman didn't get her genitals cut up at birth for reasons that are dubious at best.

Feminists expect us to be outraged over a few African shamans barbarity on the other side of the planet while telling me and almost every other American man to quit whining about the fact part of my penis was chopped off without my consent because it looks "better" in their opinion. Fuck that.

A few societies are recognizing that it is genital mutilation. Germany for one.

And I don't have a problem with female or male circumcision if it is done with consent on people who are 18 or older.

Two reasons:

1/ Society generally cares more about women's pain. Sad but true.

2/ Female genital mutilation mostly occurs in far away/scary places like Africa and is perpetrated by scary/patriarchal people like Africans. Male genital mutilation occurs down the street and is perpetrated by your neighbours.

The answer is RIGHT THERE. Society will recognize that circumcision is genital mutilation, when you treat its supporters as the mutilation freaks they are.

I am in Eritrea. They make a big issue of the fact that they have banned FGM, which used to be prevalent here. They have gone about it in a serious way so that not only does a family committing this crime get punished, but so do neighbours who fail to report suspicions or evidence.

I was discussing this yesterday with an Eritrean man, one of the most thinking people I have met here, and he told me that 95% of men here are circumcised and that he had never considered that MGM and FGM are subject to the same principles. He was also unaware that the foreskin contains sensitive erogenous material. I have planted a seed here, but it's going to take a long time to grow.

Personally, I think a lot of this really does come down to religion. I may be misguided but I think the support for it is overwhelmingly a way to avoid having to deal with the freedom of religion ramifications that outlawing it would create.

As long as single mother's continue to sign off to have their newborn male children, it's is unlikely. Women do not perceive circumcision as genital mutilation. A former co-worker of mine form another country where circumcision is not the norm, told me that when his son was born he had to repeatedly make it clear that absolutely no circumcision was to occur without his signature, which he had no intention of providing.

The UN and western developed nations, and Europe are of the consensus that FGM is wrong, barring an extreme minority of a minority(zealot immigrants who bring the practice to the first world and are almost always punished).

These same countries(barring Germany thank god, one country out of all the developed world trying to make right whats been wrong so long) often endorse or offer aid in the performing of MGM, like say pamphlets and instruction.

These same countries and nations also place the well being of women FAR above that of men.

That is why.

I have told my parents face-to-face that the worst decision they ever made for me was circumcising me, and they both act as though it was better for me, my mom admittingly though saying it was "all my dad's idea" (cop out or not.. she should take some blame for allowing it)

I have had a hard time masturbating or having sex. Masturbating it takes me at least 30+ Mins of vigorous stimulation to cum. The most important thing you can do is not circumcise your child. I will be letting my parents know proudly I did not mutilate my son if I do have a son down the road, I can hope that I do so I can raise a boy into a man knowing he will have nothing holding back his sexual life, and allow him as much leeway towards living out his aspirations and goals without some hidden shame he has absolutely nobody to talk to or get sympathy from face to face, as I have been unable to find any friends or family who give me any sympathy over my circumcision.

Maybe I should do some more research on the topic as I don't even know what female genital mutilation entails but this doesn't seem to be a huge deal to me.

Probably because FGM is actually appalling. People, let's be real, circumcision is really nothing compared to it. I do disagree with the idea that circumcision should be performed on infants, and the mainstream acceptance of it is something that needs to be fought, but the constant comparisons to FGM are just nonsensical and do give us the appearance of whiny "what about me!?"

Female circumcision and male circumcisions are not done for the same reason and Female Circumcisions are arguable worse, more painful, done less professionally in most cases, and they make the woman unable to enjoy sex.

TL;DR Female circumcision is the female equivalent of getting your entire penis cut off.
