That may be the reason some women don't go into politics, but should it be considered a valid reason?

If you are running for office in this country, you are going to be challenged and considered inferior all the time.

I mean, you will be under such heavy scrutiny for everything, and often the people voting are split down the middle, half of them not liking you for all kinds of different reasons.

They'll hate you because of your race, your sex, your religion, your lack of religion, where you come from, where you went to school, what job you've done, if you've never worked in politics before, anything you've done in the past or even as a youth that might be considered objectionable by the most puritan of us...anything and everything will be judged.

It's revolting how women can't stand the pressure guys have to everyday and when they face it their cower away and blame men. Not all women are like that but I would almost say a majority are.

Men have been standing up against life since the beginning and protected women. And now they demanded for the same rights and can't bear up to the pressure.

She basically said that women don't run because men make women feel inferior and often make women feel less valid as a result.

Found the problem.

If men just refused to participate in society simply because someone made them feel bad(more mind reading games) society would either A) not exist, B) be run by an insular, dictatorial minority of people who have ambition to control others.

The feminist excuse is a pathetic one, but what can you expect.

Another reason is family, and that female politicians are frowned upon if they have a family.

Totally false.

People love "family politicans" people they can relate to, that kiss babies, backyard bbq, etc. You can't get much closer to that cultural microcosm than big family Momma.

Also, little girls aren't encouraged by friends and family when they display aspirations to be a politician.

Maybe it's because I don't spend alot of time around kids, but since when did any kid have any other political aspiration that wasn't the classic head up your ass "I want to be president when I grow up".

But then again this came from a feminist, they live in a world of unrealistic expectations.

This is reinforced when they grow up and realise that they are living in a male dominated society and men hate women.

The same male dominated society that mutilates baby boys after birth, is legally harsher on men both before and after conviction, that ignores or in some cases applauds abuse of men, that society?

This is what feminists think and are summed up in so many words.

So fuck anyone that tells me I'm a bad person for being anti-feminist.

I can't help but feel like I have to resign myself to accepting that I am inherently an oppressor by birth, and saying anything against that, I deserve to be insulted and made to feel inferior.

There has never been a better time and place to be born male than now in the west. You have more opprotunities to find and fulfill your interests than your dad or his dad by a long shot.

However, like any time and place, there are power struggles afoot and if you challenge the governing orthodoxy, you had better know what you are doing or people will hand you your head.

You need to practice how to handle situations like that better. You opening move didn't present much of an argument. You felt disrespected by the film and asked the girl if she wouldn't mind agreeing with you.

Fortunately, r/MR is the perfect training ground for this.

The particular issue you raise is not one I usually engage, but if I were to, I would start out by observing that women are 55% of the electorate, and they seem to prefer to elect men. If we really want to get more women elected, we had better understand why that is.

I also seem to remember a lot of vicious attacks directed at the most recent woman to run for senator in my state, the vast majority of which were aimed at her by fellow women.

It's a bit of an odd catch-22. The real "symptom of male oppression" in politics is that men can take whatever view they want to, while on the campaign trail, but if a woman happens to step off the garden path she's immediately eviscerated from all sides.

And it's women who are oppressing themselves and their own rights to freedom of speech and freedom of thought.

It's terrifying.

Hunh, really? My impression was that politicians in general were frowned on if they don't have a family. The press always seem determined to get their partners and children 'in the picture', so to speak, and the public don't exactly appear disinterested in politicians' family lives (even if it is sometimes just for the sake of scandal).

I can't speak to how women feel about running for political office but the truth of the matter is vastly different.

Here in Canada, at least, when a woman stands for office she has a much better chance than a man of getting the nod from her party. On top of that, a woman stands a better chance of being elected by the voters. This is definitely how things were when I spent time helping in local elections - the parties are hungry for women candidates but there are just so few to be had. Much the same as employers in the STEM fields are eager to hire women (yay diversity!) but have few to pick from.

I don't have the time right at the moment, but I shall return with a citation to back this up so that OP can fight back against the bigots in his class.
