Hi all,

Is there any basis on which a person might not want to get rid of her last name when she marries ? In my specific instance , I am very attached to my last name, it's been my nickname for awhile. Obviously he means more to me than my name, but I feel like the nickname is part of my identity in a way. Should I begin to detach myself from my nickname so it's easier to give it up? Or can I keep my nickname even if I legally change my last name?

Thoughts? I'm not engaged yet, but we did go looking at rings, he wanted all the details on what I wanted in a ring. We are pretty much set on getting married, he just hasn't popped the question. And I haven't decided what to do with my name.

If you could point me to relevant links I'd appreciate it. I googled, but everything seemed too BP from first glance. I want to see the other side.

Thanks!
