What do you tell guys if they ask if you’re still dating other people?

My HVM (when we were dating) asked me about 5 dates in. I told him I was dating other people just like I was dating him; no sex/kissing/hand holding. 5 dates later he asked for exclusivity. He told me that he deleted all women after our second date later. I told him that I needed some time to tell my other dates that I won't continue with them; he was really happy about that.

I used to say I’m TALKING to other people but never “I’m seeing other people”.

I see that you haven’t quite seen the answer you’re looking for.

Did he specifically ask? Why? What are his intentions.? Why is he putting you on the spot with what your doing with your vagina? That’s what he’s asking no? Is he asking because he wants to know if you have other options? Is he the 1/1000 that is not doing the same as every other male?

You can be honest, “I’m currently looking for X” but don’t be on the defensive.

If it was me. And I was still dating, I would just look at him at be like, “do you think you are good enough I shouldn’t look elsewhere?l

“Prove it”.

And give no other answer.

I try and dodge the question to be honest and depending on how early in the dating process they are asking it could be a red flag and I would only ever really find it acceptable if they have asked for exclusivity immediately prior to asking that . I'd say I'm enjoying life with friends, hobbies and business pursuits and never actually confirm, then bat it back to them but NEVER admit to dating other men as they will most likely judge you for it and/or feel some kind of way. It's how they are wired and most will hear " I am sleeping with other men" even though we know we are not.

I wouldn’t answer the question. I would either ask him if he is seeing other people or I would say that I’m just dating right now until I get to know someone and we are serious

Nothing unless it’s to deter them from dating you. Someone once mentioned here that you can say that you were out with a former coworker or a coworker. I like that approach.
