Kitty Forman, from That 70s Show. I love that she's sweet and perky 80% of the time and the other 20%, she's fierce. I love her relationship with hardass Red, because I swear I married Red Forman. I love that she's his only soft spot.

I can only think of fictional ones, but they are important to me. So here goes:

June Carter from Walk the Line. Aside from her feminine style, which I adore....she's a Christian, she supports and cares for Johnny Cash when he's detoxing, she calls him out on his shit without going over the top, and even though she loves him, she's not stupid enough to take the plunge and get involved with him while he's still married or still a mess due to his drug abuse (excluding a one-night stand....but she realizes her mistake). She's witty, she has a good head on her shoulders, and she's high-value--as much as she loves Johnny, he has to be better in order to win her over.
Apollonia from The Godfather. Outside of her natural beauty, I look up to her as 1) a woman who shows interest and gives the man opportunities to lead or to impress her, without going overboard, and 2) someone who carries herself with grace and gravitas. I can't really explain it--she's submissive in a very classy way, and you can sort of tell that she still values herself.
Melanie Hamilton from Gone With the Wind. I used to look to Scarlett as a pillar of strength, and I still do. But I find myself admiring Melanie's wisdom, kindness, and submissiveness even more. I have mad respect for Scarlett taking the lead because nobody else can, and I look to her as an inspiration in that regard. And objectively, she is the prettier of the two. But when I think about how I could best support and love my future husband, I think of Melanie and the way she intuitively tries to understand and love people. For example, when Rhett tells her he took her husband to Belle's about 2/3 of the way through the film, even though she knows how it "looks," she defers to his judgment because he's a masculine leader who earned her trust in the past. (Disclaimer: Definitely don't think Ashley Wilkes is a Captain....she could've picked a more faithful and less cowardly husband)

She's so kind, sweet, smart and down to earth. She's also funny and has great sense of style. She loves baking for her family and seems very devoted to them, which is beautiful.

Michelle Obama definitely inspires me a ton! I recently read her book Becoming and it affected me in such a positive way! She is so eloquent, thoughtful, rational, sensitive and strong. When she talks about maintaining her marriage she is so positive, nurturing and objective. Inspire is an understatement.

Amal Clooney! She’s smart, independent, and has a great career, yet she's beautiful, has a great sense of style, and is very kind! I also look up to Michelle Obama and Catriona Gray (Miss Universe 2018) because of their independence and wonderful character. I also love fictional characters because I grew up reading. My favorites are Anne of Green Gables for her adventurousness and curiosity, Pollyanna for her positivity, Mary and Ma from the Little House on the Prairie books for their kindness and nurturing attitudes, Beth from the book Little Women because of her kindness, gentleness, and creativity, and Sara from the book A Little Princess, also because of her huge heart and kindness! I read all of these books in elementary school, yet I remember being so in love with these characters even then!

Edit: I can't believe I forgot to mention Audrey Hepburn! She possesses so much grace, kindness, wisdom, and good character, and she later became a humanitarian, which is my dream job! She was truly beautiful inside and out, even as she got older.

Hardworking women running their estates well, a la Proverbs 31: Kristin Lavransdatter makes some relationship decisions I would never make, BUT she puts her everything into her husband’s slovenly farm and helping to recover his reputation among the locals. Mother Wilder (Laura Ingalls’ mother-in-law) is wife to the richest man in the area, but has that New England thrift AND generosity (the food! Food all the time! So much homemade food). Her hands are always busy, from making her own cloth to frying so many fritters..... Katherine Von Bora Luther: runs a brewery and farm, and keeps basically an inn for all the important men (and pastors) her husband constantly invites over, and carries and raises 6 kids too

Smart women who are still feminine: Abigail Adams, Renaissance Woman—thanks for the commenter who reminded me of her. I loved her as a teen. Flannery OConnor, Dorothy Sayers, my medieval profs in college,

All the invisible women who let their genius men do their thing, like Mrs Bach.

Poise and grace: Julie Andrews. I can’t think of a more put-together woman. I just love to watch her move and talk

Finally, I think Elizabeth’s Bennet is too young and prejudiced to be a good role model (she grows as the novel progresses, of course), but her respect toward her (very embarrassing) parents and family I’ve always really admired. I think of her when I’m tempted to badmouth my loved ones

Dear ladies,

English literature from the 19th century provides us with great role models:

• Elinor Dashwood from Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility: she’s wise, selfless, witty, and a caring and loving daughter and sister, particularly to her younger sister Marianne. She’s also respectful and always goes with what is fair instead of what would profit her personally.

• Margaret Hale from Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South: she’s devoted to her parents, takes great care of her sick mother and grieving father, is devoted to God and helps poor people. She’s both gentle and strong, and knows what she wants. She also comes to admire masculinity and to accept submission to a great and strong man.

• Tess d’Urberville from Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles: she’s a pure, gentle and innocent woman. She always stands by her husband, is submissive and has a great sense of self-sacrifice.

I also find some great real-life role models:

• Brittany Pettibone: she’s a political activist and commentator, and also an author. She’s a great example of a feminine and soft woman (as well as her twin sister Nicole!). I also admire how she speaks up her mind about sensitive topics and how she always stands by her fiancé Martin. She’s very intelligent and always has an interesting perspective. Also, she’s Catholic, which I truly enjoy as a Catholic myself.

• Sarah Therese: she’s a Christian youtuber who talks about motherhood, marriage, homemaking or minimalism. I wouldn’t say she’s a role model, but I definitely respect her for making YouTube videos about what she believes in: she’s against abortion and claims it on YouTube which I find really brave; she also provides women with great advice on how to have a traditional relationship with their boyfriend/husband in her wife talks, which I highly recommend.

• Caitlin Ann: she’s a blogger and youtuber discussing homemaking and how to live a traditional life in this modern role. She’s really feminine, soft and sweet, always comes up with great advice or an original perspective. She will definitely cheer you up, and I hope I will become as beautiful and sweet as she is.

Mary Poppins - she's one of my biggest inspirations as a mother

Marzia (PewDiePies fiancée) - I wouldn't go as far as calling her a 'heroine' of mine or anything, but I adore her femininity, child-like qualities, and think they seem to have a fairly traditional relationship dynamic

Also Esther (from the Bible), Duchess of Cambridge, Audrey Hepburn, and Cinderella (I totally should have grown out of this one, but sorry - I can't!). I also love many of the women in Call the Midwife books and TV show.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger. I just love her advice, her strong attitude, and her belief in marriage and family. I love that she cares about children so much and talks about how parents need to think more about their kids instead of being selfish. She has really helped me see things differently and better my marriage.

Maybe I'm gonna catch some flak for this, but a famous person I feel connected to and honestly pretty similar to is Taylor Swift. Yes, recently she's released some angry songs about Kanye and all of that drama which I'm not a huge fan of, but she comes through as feminine and dedicated to her man (men...) on for instance "Call me what you want" and even Delicate, and most of her old stuff. She's failed a bunch of times in love, writes honestly about it and seems to learn from her mistakes. She's a package of vulnerable, submissive to the man she loves and feminine, while still being confident and edgy, not underestimating her own value. She is a romantic searching for love and she is willing to let a man take care of her, despite massive success, her power and her intelligence. Oh, and she cooks and bakes too.

Ashera Star Goddess or sheraseven1 on youtube. She's not your traditional RPW, she's a former gold digger. However, her content on what men like, her spiritual content, putting yourself first and self love, is on point. She has a wonderful marriage, two beautiful kids, lives in an amazing home, has several businesses, and is a very happy woman. Real life Marie Colvin - War Correspondent killed on assignment in Syria. Repetitively went back into war zones even after losing an eye, giving up options to be a mother, & publicly deriding femism. She outshone her male counterparts because of her female perspectives on the same war fronts.

Fiction Lt. Ellen Ripley - I can't explain all of my love of Ripley. There is a respect to the characterisation of Ripley which came out of the late 70s. She's kick-ass. She is focussed & she just gets that head down and does the work required.
