If you're going to be made the villain by the media then own it because ultimately you will be revered for it by your followers. Its better to be hated by many and loved by few than to be a coward in everyone's eyes.

[–]GhostInTheRedPill 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In fact the reporter was trying to get him to do just that. Julien acted like a little boy who had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

[–]Endorsed ContributorLastRevision 15 points16 points17 points 11 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

I love how CNN guy LEADS with the FRAME DESTROYING "you seem noticeably nervous, Julien..." That guy knows exactly what's up.

Edit: I never followed Julien on any social media, but from what they pulled from his Twitter and YouTube on CNN, the guy was ASKING for it and as much as I like Owen, he should have been on top of what his company was representing.

[–]SgtTRP 13 points14 points15 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The reporter is supporting the feminazis. You can call him BP or whatever.

But he dominates Julien from the start, and makes him his bitch.

Julien OTOH does everything in his power to make it easier for the reporter. He accepts he is the beta and the reporter is the alpha in this situation.

It's one thing to respect those who are more powerful than you are. It's another thing to seek comfort under their domination. You don't suspend honor and self esteem.

[–]2IVIaskerade -3 points-2 points-1 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The reporter is supporting the feminazis. You can call him BP or whatever.

What someone supports/says does not make them "alpha". What they do is the key, and just because he works for the other side doesn't mean he's automatically a pushover.

[–]SgtTRP 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Did you even read past the first 2 sentences?

[–]DoctorWelch16 points 11 years ago [recovered] (8 children) | Copy Link

I feel bad for the dude, I wouldn't be surprised if he was completely against going on there and doing that. Owen probably forced him to do this so his business wouldn't get fuck up.

[–]Keninishna 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It definitely seems like hes being pushed to just drop it and say sorry and take responsibility, although he fails the shit tests because he and everyone else knows its not his honest opinion. Then again Julian isn't a politician.

He fucked up by turning up to that interview, he fucked up again by acting like a bitch when the host was pressing him. I mean is that even allowed? That host is clearly trying to embarrass him, not get an unadulterated interview.

After that dreadful mistake he'll lose the respect of his clients and many people, including SJW's and feminists. At least own up to it, tell them why you were choking the woman for fucks sake, tell them they love it. Its in their nature, hence why the woman in the video is smiling. Put that smug of a host in his place goddamn it.

[–]2RedPill4LYF 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Dude had a gun to his head. It's obvious he wanted to tell the truth by the way his eyes were watering. You're looking at the video of a man who is under a gun.

[–]should_ 11 points12 points13 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Wish it could be the way it was before.

Esther Vilar writes an outrageous book that slays women and the women's movement. Interview against hostile feminist interviewer considered the head of the movement; interview is in the feminist's domain. The frame is maintained. Turn closed captions on, gentlemen.

I guess in Vilar's case it was "I don't believe that women are oppressed, in fact we use men" and Blanc was more like "I'm sorry I said racist things and was slightly violent." But it still feels like we're regressing.

[–]should_ 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Definitely. I'm in a little cognitive dissonance now, because on the one hand I'm peeved that women have been not working for so long, and that's still considered socially acceptable today, despite cries to the contrary. But here on RP people sometimes mention that men should be the ones working because of the relevance of gender roles, and women should stay at home. So the question is, is this [edit: women not working and having their men work] manipulation or nature? I'm honestly for women in the workplace because single women should be able to work to survive, just like anyone else. And I think a world where men have leisure time because they have a girlfriend also working means more time to self-actualize instead of rot in 9-5 prison.

[–]Senior ContributorSkorchZang 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Vilar is an exceptional woman, the way she maintains frame in that interview gives most modern MEN something to envy & learn from.

[–]1dongpal 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ive never seen such a strong frame in my entire life. And that by a women... wow

[–]TheDarkTriad 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure why he would even agree to do this interview. He had to know he would be attacked by the interviewer. It made him look worse in my opinion.

[–]ModAerobus 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Julien shouldn't have even agreed to it. He should have told them that he is not going to apologize, even if offends people. He should have issued a statement saying that he uses these tactics because ultimately they work.

Instead he looked like a beta bitch, and caused many women to hate him and lose attraction to him.

[–]foldpak111 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Women like being choked. Women like being abused.

All the proof you need: 50 shades of grey

But only from a high value male, which is exactly what julien is, being a rich CEO and all. So I really don't understand what all the rage is...

[–]ModAerobus -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The rage is that other women, who were not getting hit on by Julien, found out about this, and cried misogyny. See, when women are manipulated by a person like Julien, everything gets hamstered away. They don't think of it as manipulation. But when they see it happening to a different woman, someone that's not them, due to a few different reasons (one of them being jealousy even), they realize its bad and protest about it.

[–]Endorsed Contributorvandaalen 42 points43 points44 points 11 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

I have no sympathy for this sociopathic piece of shit.

Only god knows how many boys and men will stear clear from anything just slightly related to RP because of all the shit he pulled off just to fill his pockets, fuel his ego and satisfy his need for the thrills.

First he behaves in the exact same way that every single one of us is accused to secretly be like, and when faced with the consequences, he's got nothing better to do, than apologize on international TV, like a weak bitch?

That's just fucking damage control for himself, nothing else.

What's even worse is, that by that he covertly approved of all accussations that are made against RP men.

Fuck that guy.

[–]puppet22 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

He's just doing the best thing for his own business prospects and RSD business. Whether or not the aplogy was sincere is ireleveant. If it is a business decision that keeps the customers coming and lining his and RSD's pocket with cash, then I don;t see how it is necceasrily being a weak bitch.

[–]Dream4eva 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I guarantee Owen told him to fix it asap.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It wasn't a good business decision to apologise. All of his fans hate him now.

[–]Endorsed ContributorLastRevision 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And don't forget he sold out his audience by calling them "socially awkward" and "looking to get married."

[–]puppet22 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He was just trying to use simplistic terms that the average CNN viewing drone might relate to.

[–]foldpak111 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No a real man would accept the fact that he's not the best version of himself. I am in the process right now and I totally agree with him. I'm awkward as shit, kid.

[–]Indianbro 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No offense dude, but lets see you hold and maintain "frame" if you were literally getting hate speech from live TV as well as the entire fucking globe. This whole thing is blown way out of proportion. He's only trying to protect RSD and his apologies were genuine. He did pretty well, and I doubt you could pull it off.

[–]phe_nom 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Mike from D&P did it without compromising what he stood for. Julien fucking crumbled.

Either Julien compromised his beliefs for the sake of money, which makes him a whore, or he never believed any of it which makes him a scam artist.

IMO he is probably a bit of both.

[–]foldpak111 -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah I don't care who you are you'd be shaking under that stress. Unless you're king Leonidas

[–]NotTheFlash 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Quit crying. It's life. People will take every opportunity to shit on things they don't like. This just happens to be one they could take. And you know what, it will happen again, and again, and again.

[–]fuckingkike 15 points16 points17 points 11 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Dude's been kicked out of or banned from how many countries now, with how many more on the waiting list? That's some heavy shit for an international executive to deal with, much less a dating coach. Given enough pressure, anyone will fold. Dude has my sympathy.

I will of course be denouncing him in public any time this comes up in a situation where real people know me, though. Gotta keep up plausible deniability.

I just don't understand women dude. They froth at the mouth over fifty shades of grey which is exactly what's going on here. A rich, good looking CEO abusing women.

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_STRUGGLE2 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's like if you loved chocolate but society says it's wrong to love chocolate. This guy is giving chocolate to women but they're not supposed to like it, when clearly the girls in the videos in Japan are into it so there's feminists all over saying how women "should" react. Feminists say you shouldn't want chocolate aka being dominated

I didn't even know it was physically possible to get banned from a country like that, let alone 3. Seems legendary. If anything, Julien's incident should make him more notorious and give him more popularity.

[–]HAQ_be 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm overwhelmed by the power some groups have. Kicking a man out of a country for this?

[–]puppet22 -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Welcome to the new Australia. The Immigration Minister has the power to cancel visas on 'character ground' I.e he got lobbied hard by the feminazis and folded like superman on laundry day, all to gain political popularity. Mr Blanc is a great scapegoat.

[–]IceColdTang 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Law 38: Think as you like, but behave like others. Smart move.

And although this whole story feels like a win to the feminists, they will never take away the truths from someone who swallowed the pill. Cheers.

[–]foldpak111 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True. Women like being choked to tell you the truth. Women always want me to do it to them in the bedroom.

Dude's been kicked out of or banned from how many countries now, with how many more on the waiting list? That's some heavy shit for an international executive to deal with, much less a dating coach

What crime was he accused of? I've been out of the rp loop for a while.

[–]PublicallyViewable 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't know if he was "accused of a crime", but it seems like pushing a girl's head into your crotch would be sexual assault very easily. And honestly, even though I'm a fan of RSD, I'm having a difficult coming up with a counter-argument to calling it assault without researching exactly the circumstances that he did it in or how far he went.

[–]PublicallyViewable 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Crime? His crime was being a white cis male rape oppressor. We all know that any male with a sexuality is instantaneously a rapist. That's evidence enough.

[–]Speed9402 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You're simplifying it.

Was it wrong all those countries banned him without being a criminal? Yes

Were his actions in Japan fucking stupid? Yes

The countries are going down a slippery slope for banning him but I can't gather emotion for someone that was hurt by their own stupidity.

[–]PublicallyViewable 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're right. I shouldn't be simplifying it like that, that sarcasm wasn't helpful and wasn't funny.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't know about the Japan rules but Australia at least has it written that they can deny or strip someone of their visa if there's a risk of "public discord" or the like so it's not necessarily wrong that they banned him, especially when there's video footage of him advocating and performing what is arguably straight up assault. I know it's easy to assume that tourist visas grant some sort of rights but in Japan, at least, it's not even a visa, it's a visa waiver that essentially just means you don't need to have a visa for that period you're there for.

[–]Speed9402 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Dude is a dumbass for that Japan video. He's posted some good material so I'm surprised he would do something like that.No good is gonna come from not apologizing and sinking with that ship.

Sometimes you gotta know when you are in the wrong as well. That was some flatout slimy behavior in Japan. I don't necessarily agree with Australia and whomever else banning him like a criminal because at the end of the day he wasn't arrested or charged with anything so he should be allowed to work(That's a slippery slope if I saw one, but Australia is supposed to be a SJW shitfest nowadays). It amazes me that they are smart enough to run a successful business, but can't see past making such small errors that obviously weren't gonna fly from a PR/SJW perspective.

[–]R4F1 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually, another side of the controversy is what he used to say on his Twitter and some of the offensive screenshots from some of the Tinder girls he texted. The Japan video was only the spark, its his personal comments online that really put him in a dark light.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]redditor16183 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Why did he have to apologize three times? He might be great at convincing women to have sex with him, but when confronted with a real challenge he looks a bit weak.

[–]xRILLIANx 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think what a lot of y'all are forgetting and aren't understanding is the huge barrage of shit Julien has been slung through in the past couple weeks. Banned from multiple countries, attacked internationally by major media outlets and feminists worldwide, very likely now jobless.

A lot of you who are saying what he did wrong and what he should have done: yes, in theory, you are right. In practice, I think you'd find that everyone has a breaking point.

The only people who could get that much global hate in that short of a time and walk it off are those who are truly rich and powerful (think international celebrities, Obama, Bill Gates, Putin, etc), because they have the money and the international power of respect. Julien didn't have either of these (at least not nearly to the level of the aforementioned) before he became hated worldwide. He was, for the most part, an ordinary guy who tried to be alpha.

I'm not saying that TRP shouldn't apply to interviews and in defense against attacks to character. These are exactly the places one SHOULD apply frame. But a lot of you need to recognize Julien for who he really is, and take it as a lesson learned, rather than criticize him for apologizing and breaking down.

[–]PublicallyViewable 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's sad. What an unfortunate situation. Nobody will give him the chance of the day to explain his situation, unless they already know what he was about. All they'll see is a confirmation of their preconceived notions about PUAs as sexual predators and/or rapists.

I don't watch as much of Julien's stuff as I do Owen's, but when I'm watching Owen's I get this overwhelming sense that he's genuinely working from a place of love, and that he's using the PUA platform to share powerful lessons that can help the audience become better people.

[–]Watermelon_Salesman 4 points4 points4 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

He apologizes like a bitch, looks nervous as hell, fails all the shit tests and fails to hold frame.

I strongly disagree.

As much as I think he is a piece of shit, I think he handled the situation well enough. Not like a champ, but not that bad either. He doesn't choke much, doesn't stutter, and actually responds accordingly to what's asked. He doesn't look that nervous - at least not as much as he should be, given his predicament, and as for shit tests I don't really know what you're talking about.

Apologizing, at least for him and at this point, might not save face that much, but in his case it might be a matter of staying out of jail. God knows what people might still come up with. I would guess there will be rape accusations soon.

[–]puppet22 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Exactly, all the women he has banged (probably 100+) might see his face and decided that they must have been raped to rationalise sleeping with such a "jerk".

[–]redcamo 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Above all it is weakness that women detest.

He will be facing a swarm of rape allegations because he came off as a simpering "creep", not a "jerk."

I think Mystery handled his interview on Conan better, despite dressing like Indiana Jones and Conan constantly clowning on him.

[–]Johnny10toes 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He did well but he missed a good joke when Conan said then he could get rid of the goggles. " no we're going to use those in the bedroom cuz its going to be getting deep up in that bitch."

Dude they are getting banned from countries and their events are geting protesters showing up and assaulting them. Forget shit tests the business he's part of is being directly attacked.

[–]Espada18 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

As if apologizing is gonna make things better, he'll lose the respect of potential and existing clients. They have to realize business isn't going to be the same, and they might as well generate new clients and hold on to existing ones by being bold, or they could apologize and embarrass themselves in the eyes of their target audience which are men.

[–]TRPdating 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Exactly. Who are they pissing off here? Not the target audience. These guys are getting more press now than ever before. If they stuck to their guns and used the opportunity on CNN to ask viewers to hit their products up, they'd be rolling in more money right now.

My point: The people who are pissed are NOT RSD's customers.

You don't get it... his interview was an act to bring down the heat. we all know he or Owen would verbally demolish anyone.

Alpha and beta are something you do, not something you are.

This means we can think of beta-ing out as being somewhat akin to falling off of a horse. Which means your statement can be understood in terms of the statement: "Even the best riders can fall off of a horse".

...which is absolutely true.

You practice horse-riding to be less likely to fall, but you still have to pay attention, not take things for granted, and not stop applying what you know.

Alpha and beta live in all of us. We have to cultivate good habits and always live with courage, not just tell ourselves we "are alpha" because have social status, and can talk girls into bed.

Alpha and beta are something you do, not something you are.

Alpha and beta what exactly?

There are alpha and beta males in a socioeconomic context and social hierarchy, which is most certainly something you are, not something you do. And there are alpha and beta personality traits & characteristics, which can indeed sometimes ebb and flow as something you do or don't do. Many guys trying to "become alpha" and faking it till they make it, who don't go through the full cycle of self-improvement, can and often do slide back into their old habits when they get complacent in a relationship. This is why it's so damn important to not get into a serious relationship when going through the self-improvement process so that you have adequate time to let the new habits you're trying to embrace to take hold and become part of you. This can sometimes take YEARS to accomplish, depending on how naturally beta you are and what all you're trying to change about yourself.

Also, men can absolutely fake having an "alpha" station in life by lying about their job or whatnot and putting on fake designer clothes, but this is a short-term fix and unsustainable over the long run. Alpha in this context is dependent on the situation and what the women perceive. Girls into cars might not see the man with the good job as alpha if he drives a shitty car, but other women might not care about car and to him he's an alpha because of the career he has. It's all fluid and situationally dependent. Alpha male traits on the other hand are harder to fake, such as height, fitness, or being the leader of a social circle.

If you haven't read the chapters on alpha and beta chracteristics in the Married Man Sex Life Primer, I really think you should. In fact everyone should IMO.

My friend in college was one of the most "Alpha" guys I ever met. He had joined the military before going to college, was a few years older/more experienced, and was literally a man among boys. A wrestling and martial arts champion, hard drinking tough as nails brawler, leader of men, with a spectacular campus notch count. He ran a stellar "After Hours" where he would convince multiple groups of girls that were fascinated with him to meet us after (good scene).

One nighty, things got a little wild, the cops came, and looked like he might be going jail. This tough as nails guy that we had never seen back down to ANYBODY suddenly completely switched gears, everything was "Yes sir! No sir!"....and the cops went away with nobodies freedom or good standing at college at risk.

One of the guys started busting his balls - "Jesus Kevin, I've never seen you kiss ass like that". We all stared at him...we also had never seen him act like this.

He laughed and said "That's nothing, you should see me in the military!" We all cracked up and he went back to partying and slaying epic poon for another 2 years, and then graduating with a real (engineering) degree into a very successful life.

WTF did "Alpha" or "Beta" mean here? He gave the exact response in each situation that maximized his chances for long term success. Sometime "Being Alpha" is just being smart and versatile enough to get to the place where you're Top Dog again.

I was just thinking about a video of Owen I saw on YouTube that was titled something like "Watch Tyler fail after a month off." These guys always talk about how many years they spent working on themselves and building their frame. I like Tyler, but if he "fails" after just spending a month off from approaching girls, how are people who are new to approaches to ever get this down? These people are professionals!

That's like if you went to a race track during a workshop where you learned how to drive a car on a real track and the driver keeps messing up just because he has not sat in a car for a month.

If these things are truly internalized, how can you "lose" your ability after just a month?

[–]Cock_unblocker 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow what a little pussy, he got fucking man handled.

[–]Johnny10toes 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think he was trying to spin it with a joke angle but forgot that the media spins shit like it's their job.

[–]tedted8888 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What is he apologizing for? Wearing a shirt that says 'I dont like fat bitches'? I paid attention to tyler and jeffy. What did Julien teach? Tyler talked about taking sips from girls drinks, but only when your 'in the zone' and its very risky. I think in the jeffy show he talked about his sex van. What did Julien do that was so bad?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Fuck man they got Julien?!

first they went for the frustrated "nice guys" who complained about being friendzoned, picketed and ridiculed mens rights activism, now they're pulling the PUA'S out from under the woodwork, banning them from countries.

soon will be RedPillers/MGTOW. it's all over, we're finished! Our resolve will soon be crushed under the iron fist of the feminist lobby. Repent! Repent! The end is nigh'!

[–]TheBunBun54321 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Relax buddy us Redpillers and MGTOWS are ghosts, there are no way they will get to us, even if this sub gets compromised

[–]crawnick 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You cannot finish an ideology.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I know, I'm just kidding. I have no doubt that the feminist powers WILL turn their attention towards the "manosphere" sooner or later but they cannot take away the knowledge and ideas that have already been gleaned from.

[–]TRP_FuckFeminists 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seeing as I don't leave my room much less my house, they will not ever get me brother.

[–]MyNewAccount9 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I had a different reaction.

To me, the reporter looked like a pompous ass. And Julien looked like a mischievous little manipulator or prankster.

He has this mischievous glint in his eyes. And you know that HE knows what he's saying is bullshit.

It felt to me like this is all game for Julien--just kind of part of his scheme.

That was my take.

[–]crawnick 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

He lost frame? What? The frame he projected the entire time was one that showed he viewed his past mistakes, went over them, was sorry about them, and will work to change that in the future.

Owning up to your fuck-up isn't beta and it certainly doesn't convey any loss of frame. Did you want him to go on national television and say "I love choking bitches and that chart right there? HAH bitches deserve abuse."

Of course not. Neither man broke their frame, and it's not as is this wasn't a public apology. That is exactly what it was, caculated and executed - and the man got to show his side of the story as much as he could.

Jesus this sub baffles me sometimes.

[–]redcamo -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Well get used to being baffled then because you're in way over your head here.

This interview epitomizes what its like for a man to lose frame but I'm not going to sit here and explain to you how there were more ways to approach this than Julien's "I'm really genuinely sorry and I sincerely apologize," and your suggested alternative of "I love choking bitches and that chart right there? HAH bitches deserve abuse."

You just need to work on your reasoning skills if you seriously look at this scenario and only see those two extremes as options.

[–]crawnick 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

No need to be condescending, captain. Nothing you said is revolutionary or insightful, nor informative or helpful. My reasoning skills are absolutely fine and, humorously enough, it's you that's in over your head. I'll condescendingly explain.

What I did is present what's called a "false dilemma" in logic. I did this to show how extreme the sub is taking Julien's performance and parodied it, and this also indicates that I quite obviously know there are less extreme ways of approaching the situation.

You obviously didn't understand that, but I'm not going to sit here and explain much further. Instead of being confrontational and overly assertive, perhaps it would do you some good to ask questions and open your mind up and not assume you're the smartest man in the room. Just a suggestion.

[–]redcamo 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Nobody's exaggerating. We're taking Julien's behavior at face value. Short of outright balling, he could not have come off weaker.

You're the one who came into this with a condescending tone, "baffled' that the sub wasn't impressed with the guy. You have to be a complete RSD dickrider if you seriously believe this was a "calculated and executed" move. Hes shitting himself on that set.

Since I'm sure your hamster is already spinning to rationalize your boy Julien's perfection, please tell me why somebody would "calculate" giving an insincere apology. Because nobody is buying that hes genuinely sorry from this. His body language communicates that loud and clear.

[–]crawnick 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Don't mean to intrude, but I took a look at your history the other day, just out of curiosity. It struck me when I came across this:

Alternative is hes a social climbing alpha to the core and he realizes that the mob needs to be fed these token apologies lest his career is burned to the ground.

Why can't that same notion be afforded to this new, yet paralleled, situation?

[–]redcamo 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ok, so you might have said "calculated and executed to the best of his ability" instead, because as it is your original post gives the impression you think Julien totally pulled that off. As a last-ditch, desperate attempt to save his career I guess it was technically a "calculated" move. And since it WAS something he did I guess its also technically something he "executed." Its just the way you phrased it had me imagining James Bond defusing a bomb or something.

Idk why the fuck I said social "climbing" in that post. Social "navigating" would have been more accurate. That guy is an alpha in the field of science. He gives his token apology and gets to go back to his lab and continue wrecking shit. Crisis averted.

But Julien is an alpha because he has made that his image. This interview burned that to the ground. Difference is in the details. And, going back to my original point of condescension, he could have given that token apology without sacrificing his alpha image as well.

[–]crawnick 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Totally man. You and I are agreeing on everything; no need to cut trees and burn bridges over something so trivial. I couldn't give a fuck about Julien or RSD or CNN either way - and he was definitely not James Bond hahah. But, when you come to the comments and the top few include

I have no sympathy for this sociopathic piece of shit.

and

the guy was ASKING for it

and many people agreeing with them, it's hard not to see the reaction as a bit extreme.

[–]14931125 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He fucked up by posting crass jokes and trying to get a reaction from Jezebel.

But honestly his interview was the best thing he could have done. He is trying to save his business. If he stuck to his guns it would have caused him to be banned from more countries/ more SJW agression. He has a video where he talks about always holding the frame, except that the expense of losing the girl.

He wanted to look like the victim, wanted to look sorry and weak.
