(Female) sluts:

Some people say mean things about them
May have trouble finding LTRs with high-value men
Are supported by an influential political/social movement that succesfully advocates for them
Are allowed to shame the opposite gender for their negative view towards them
Often boast about their status
Chose to be one

(Male) virgins:

Treated with condescending advice at best, hatred at worst
Often perceived as dangerous and accused of crimes/criminal intentions
Universally unattractive for both casual sex and LTRs
Absolutely no political/social support
Utterly forbidden from shaming the opposite gender for their negative view of them
Always try to hide their status
Rarely chose to be one

Virgins are pitied more than shamed IRL I'd say. I'd definitely say there is more social stigma attached to being a virgin though.

I also think that stigma applies to both men and women, but more strongly to men.

Unless youre in a very conservative area, i'd say virgins have it a lot worse. They are shamed in the media, and you can make fun of a guy for being a virgin in a major city but if you talk shit about a girl that is a slut, be prepared to get flack for it.

Though I'd argue that this is mostly due to premarital sex being socially acceptable - back in ye olden days, the difference was "had sex with lots of people" and "didn't have sex with lots of people", which put premarital virgins in the same camp as married people with an N of 1.

Today however, the difference is more "had sex" and "didn't have sex". You get some leeway if you're younger, but if you didn't have sex (despite being legally allowed to and it being socially acceptable) at some point, people are going to assume that there's something wrong with you (and they probably aren't wrong). Sluts on the other hand are ultimately just "people who already had sex", and unless you make a huge fuss about your sex life, you aren't going to stand out for that: at the end of the day, it's easier to spot a virgin for life than a slut.

It depends on the belief system of the local micro-community. In some places, people get killed for premarital sex. So tighter religious environments can make life very hard for sluts. In the US or most modern climes, probably virgins.

I’m really tired of the whole ”shaming” thing. People can think what they want of me and idgaf. I have my own standards and morality, I am not always pleased with my own behavior but rarely can others “shame” me. This whole “don’t shame me” strikes me as a perpetuation of the victimization Olympics. Instead of people complaining about being ”shamed”, as long as you aren’t hurting some else, tell people to mind their own business and move on🤷‍♀️

Shamed for being a slut = Women.

Shamed for being a virgin = Men.

One is socially acceptable, even encouraged. Even slightly hinting to the other will get you in deep troubles socially and working-wise. Easy answer to this question. Gynocracy trumps all.

In terms of stigma, being a virgin is a big one, especially as a guy. I don't think sluts are shamed in the way we imagine. I see it more as just arguing point between people, especially women even if it may be true. I don't think society looks down upon people who hook up. Hell, everyone knows Tinder as it is.

I’ve never heard any virgin shaming IRL - I think they shame themselves and worsen it by reading the bitter grievances of other virgins online.
