There's no difference between a slut and a womanizer, but we seem to treat them very differently depending on our own gender.

Today society says women shouldn't be shamed for having very active sex lives and I agree. While women themselves may appreciate this relatively new trend, they don't conform to it when it comes to men. Just listen to the way women talk about players and womanizers. The idea of a guy sleeping with lots of beautiful women somehow automatically makes him chauvinistic. James Bond and Hank Moody get a lot of flak from women for this. I was reading a thread on r/Askwomen about popular characters they didn't like. Majority of the answers were traditionally masculine characters on tv and movies who were portrayed as exceptionally slutty (for lack of a better word). So why are women forgiving of promiscuity in other women but find it gross in men?

The other side of the road is the same thing. Men love players and want to be like them. But can't stand the same thing in women.

I'm not trying to antagonise either gender. Just want to start a discussion about this phenomenon.
