Hello Poo-PD'ers,

Earlier today, I read a TRP article written by u/exit-sandman where he detailed a story of a guy he knew in high-school telling him that women wanted to be treated like shit.

I'm certain that this wouldn't be the first time any man has heard this before, so this prompted me to go searching for scientific articles related to evolutionary psychology or biology on the subject, because I suspect that women have somewhat evolved to be "submissive" (for lack of a better word) through several hundred thousand years of negative, aggressive treatment by men (which is a post for another time, if I happen to find anything).

My search led me to a series of articles written by a Dr. Seltzer (among others), who has written a rather detailed explanation of "dread game" which he titles Fear-Inspired Sex: A Woman's Ultimate Defense--or Weapon?

Now, I'm not exactly sure if Bloops view the concept of "dread game" from a moral standpoint, or if they just don't understand or believe it to be a valid.... uhh..... "strategy".... to reignite the flames of desire within a relationship.

The article is well-detailed that it practically speaks for itself, so I will simply copy-and-paste a few excerpts, as well as a source link at the end for anyone curious enough to read the article or the other articles listed on the page. There is another one that attempts to explain (also fairly-well, I might add) paradoxical nature of female sexual attraction, which I will leave here for convenience sake.

The rationale behind "Fear-Inspired Sex" from Dr. Seltzer's article goes as follows:

But the rationale I'd like to focus on here is one that's rarely alluded to in the literature: namely, a woman's wanting sex--and at times desperately so--out of fear that her partner may be on the verge of leaving her. That is, she may actively pursue her spouse sexually to help deal with powerful feelings of anxiety, stemming from her intuition or knowledge that her relationship is in jeopardy--fragile, teetering, or on the brink of collapse.

It all makes perfect sense. If the woman has been told, or at least senses, that her spouse is giving up on the relationship--or is emotionally or sexually involved with another woman--alarm bells can immediately start bellowing inside her head. Up to this point, and for any number of reasons, she may have lost almost all sexual interest in him. Maybe because of numerous unresolved arguments, misunderstandings, and resentments. Or because of not feeling sufficiently cared about by him. Or because he's become so preoccupied with work that he barely seems to notice her anymore. Or maybe it's because she's become so absorbed--probably with her children. And so on, and so on.

Nonetheless, she may still assign a high value to the relationship--or just to staying married. At the very least, she may simply not be psychologically prepared for the emotional chaos so characteristic of separation and divorce. Whether jealous or not, if only to protect her vulnerability, she may be willing to try almost anything to escape the painful sting of rejection.

I do urge anyone who's curious to read the other articles provided in the first link, because they are almost as interesting as they are controversial. The titles include "Why Do Women Fall for Cruel Men," and "Why Do Women Fall for Serial Killers."

Happy reading.

EDIT: I just wanted to point out that the purpose of this post is to attempt to explain the rationale behind the use of Dread Game, as well as how women respond to it. It is not to be taken as "Justification for the use of Dread Game."
