Sexual harassment is prohibiting/withholding/or offering opportunities for women in the workplace in exchange for sex, which absolutely has real world consequences. If your boss passes you over for a promotion or gives you a bad review bc you refuse to blow him, you’ve now had your career ruined, loss of wages or salary, or mobility halted by a false pretense. The company has lost out on a talented productive worker to protect a guy trying to get his dick sucked on company time. Working class women have it worse, bc often there is no HR to run to. You have to worry about feeding yourself or your kids now if your boss decides to fire you: cut your hours for not fucking him, or makes your day to day a living hell by constantly violating your personal boundaries.

sexual harrassment at work thats persistent an pervasive does have consequences though, because you cant avoid it if its persistent AND keep your job, so you have to quit or deal with it

Some effects of sexual assault - definitely not just emotional. Although, I'm not sure why emotional distress isn't enough for men who are aware of what assault is to doing it? I don't understand why you would WANT to cause a woman emotional or physical harm. Can you answer me that?

Sexual assault victims can have their lives absolutely ruined. You should read some of the stories of husbands, boyfriends, and family members abandoning people because they were sexually assaulted. Also just look at the attitude males have towards dating sexual assault victims.

Also why does “emotional distress” not count towards anything? Emotional distress is the result of a bad event happening, if one loses their house in a fire for example, they lost their house and they are going to feel emotional distress from it.

Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination, it is not “Johnny asked me for a drink after work,” or “I heard Johnny tell Paul he liked fake tits once.” It is not about “women’s feelings,” it’s about discrimination in the workplace.

Sexual assault isn’t either. Would you feel violated if someone spit on your face? Because that’s assault, I’m guessing you wouldn’t like it, it violates your personal space and your body, and yet there’s no serious physical consequences.

How about you treat people like human beings and stop dismissing negative experiences as just "feelings being hurt". It's a lot more than that and part of the problem is that people like you don't take it seriously. When you are constantly harassed and belittled because of your gender (and yes, it is constantly. sure, it doesn't happen on a daily basis but the majority of women experience it and suffer from it), the experiences add up and do take a toll on your psyche.

In most cases "sexual harrasment" is an amusing joke that should not be taken serious.

In all honesty i couldn't care less if a woman cries how she got raped or harassed, it's your own problem and you need to deal with it.

Women are extremely weak minded and always either run away from a confrontation or just run for help, they victimize themselves and they actually enjoy it which i find pathetic.

Under Canadian law, "assault" is any nonconsensual contact (with certain exceptions). Using a squirt gun is assault with a weapon. Squirt a woman on the tits and it could be sexual assault with a weapon. A pat on the ass can be sexual assault. A guy in a bar gets in an argument with her BF and she shoves him; he shoves her back and his thumb touched her boob and he got charged with sexual assault.

Having said that, when there is actual violence, or the threat of violence that is a different story and goes well beyond hurt feelings. That is even without any visible signs after the fact (ie. "bodily harm").

Perhaps what is more true is that it shouldn't be a problem for women who claim to be "strong" and "independent," who say they can compete with a man in a man's world, and who tout themselves as "sexually liberated."

On the other side of the issue, respecting women is more a matter of respecting the men who are in her life. You don't respect another man's wife, daughter or sister just because she's a woman; it's because she is associated with another man who should be respected. Likewise, if you work for a man, you have to respect that man's rules, including the rules on sexual harassment - or else leave the company.

But if it's a situation involving fallen women, such as whores, sluts, actresses, and others who have loose reputations, that's different. They can't claim to be "injured" by something that they do normally as part of their everyday existence.

A plumber can sue if he fixes your toilet and you didn't pay the bill. That's fair, but they can't come back and say "Ewww! I don't like working around toilets!"
