I had a crush on Lizzie so I watched it sometimes.

Was it held up to you in any way shape or form as "how to get girls"

Nope, but I guess it probably taught me some stuff.

Like she fell in love with Denny because he's the closest she can ever get to dating Brad Pitt. Then she fell in love with Ethan because he was the cool skaterboy. The she fell in love with Ronnie because he was the cool and hot paperboy. Then there was a episode where she met her popstar crush Aaron Carter.

So yeah maybe it would have been helpful after all because boys would learn not to be like her doormat Gordo, but rather like the attractive, cool, confident and assertive guys she was actually attracted to.

Can I ask you what started this thread? Did some TRPer claim that the message of this show was that we should be more like Gordo? I have to add this to my list of weird interpretations of mainstream media by TRPers. Apparently we should also aspire to be more like Sheldon, Milhouse and Ross or that Superbad teaches boys that nice nerds will get the hot girl just by being themselves/nice, but I guess that just proof that those that need TRP in the first place are those that are incapable of understanding basically anything.

No, I grew up in a neighborhood where everyone played outside. We built bike ramps, had pinecone wars, played pranks on each other, etc. It was considered pretty lame to be inside watching TV.

I was aware that the show existed though.

No. I have an older (mentally handicapped) sister who really loved all that Disney shit though. Really I associate it with her kind of undeveloped mind. I don't think I've ever watched it for more than like 5 minutes tho so maybe I'm just being a dick
I never knew enough about the show to use it as a guide for dating. For me learning about dating was basically 100% trial and error until my mid 20s which was the first time I encountered any kind of manosphere type dating theory

I'm in my 30s and never really watched the Disney channel but boys were not watching fucking Lizzie Maguire and internalizing whatever messages it was sending. It was fap material at best for that cohort.

We were all too busy with the rise of the internet finding porn, using file sharing services for music and video games and uh more porn.

The athletes and jocks were not watching Lizzie Magurie either.

Edit: also why would a show for girls be watched by boys to gain insight on how to get girls? Especially at that age.

No. Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide was more my thing.

It didn't really strike me as a guide for how to get girls, but damn those tips on the show came in handy for me. Especially that one about navigating through crowds at a dance.

I didn't watch Lizzie Maguire because I thought it was for girls. That and if word got out I'd get no end of shit from other kids. When it was airing I wasn't old enough to be into girls.

But many women including my own mother told me that women like intelligent and kind/pleasant men (in my own mother's case it was actually true, but she was an atypical woman who was far smarter than the average woman so that clearly influenced her own viewpoint... alternatively she may have been tacitly restricting her comments to atypically intelligent/outlier women because she'd have been horrified at the thought of her son dating some normie wench). There were also lots of cultural myths about how women's sexuality is more "mental/psychological" and less "visual" than men's (even lesbian feminists like Norah Vincent have made this argument)... so its not hard to construe all this as implying that women prioritize personality and intellect and things above being physically hot.

Of course I'm an aspie so I didn't see when (most) people were "just being polite and diplomatic" when saying these things. If it weren't for the fact I no longer really have to care what other people think about me, I'd have even more issues than I currently do.

But yeah. As a kid you're gullible. As an aspie kid you're extra gullible. Finding out just how much people have lied to you ("little white lies" are still lies, and "I thought you knew I meant the exact opposite of what I was telling you in order to soothe your feelings" is still a lie) generates a huge amount of justified anger and consequent cynicism.

Things would be a lot easier if people communicated more frankly/directly. But they don't. They enjoy pretty-sounding lies.

For guys saying they didn't watch the show. Great. I'm from Philly. A bad part. Even still as a middle schooler, I did watch Lizzie McGuire, along with That's So Raven, The Jersey and Even Stevens because that's what 11 year olds watched in the early 2000s. Yes, me and my friends also rode dirt bikes, played basketball and got into fights.

The point that OP has failed or refused to understand is that there is a lot of blue pill conditioning on film and tv. You obviously don't realize while you're watching but it is shaping your worldview and creating schemas about love and dating. She's trying to mock the guys who've argued this point by saying we got our information from "Lizzie McGuire". Lol. It's thousands upon thousands of films and tv shows we consumed growing up smartass.

Nope. It was a show about teenagers, and being on the cusp of my adolescence I kinda assumed all teen movies and dramas were exactly how life was going to be. I thought girls would be hotter. Parties would be more frequent. Quickly learned this wasn't the case, and I also highly doubt the writers of Lizzie McGuire intended to give me this impression any more than the writers of Skins or American Pie did. I was just naive. Plus I don't remember Lizzie McGuire being overly niceguyish. She crushes on attractive and somewhat immoral people all the time in that show. If anything, it was a pretty honest presentation of the young female mind, especially with those little cartoons showing her thought processes.
