So, there was a recent post by /u/hyperrreal (can't find it now?) about how most people desire a mate with genetic material very different than their own.

However, in my view, even though people differ in their sexual preferences, nearly all sexual drives and desires, or the people we want to attract stem from a desire for genetic fitness, the capability of being able to pass on more offspring.

For example, the most obvious ones are height/muscular strength in men or big boobs/big ass in women, or long hair, petite stature, tc. in women. All of these, and with a few more variations signal high fertility and ability to defend one's self from attack if needed.

This also can extend to other less common one's, like Sapio-sexualism, or the attraction to intelligence. Intelligence or ambition can be viewed by women at last as a means a man knows how to survive and be useful.

Now, one proof I offer for this idea is that, the traits which no one is attracted to near universally are those which have almost no sexual fitness:

  1. Disabled: Almost all disabled people share the experience of feeling asexual or de-sexualized and getting no sexual attention at all.

  2. Pre-Pubescent Children: The vast majority of all people are not sexually attracted to young children, because they have no signs of reproductive ability or ability to survive on their own.

  3. Aging: Basically no people are attracted to the signs of aging, such as wrinkles, sagging skin, gauntness, etc. They might be attracted to somewhat older people but the visual manifestation of age is never attractive.
