Men leave for all sorts of reasons, just like women do. They're not all psychopathic monsters but that doesn't mean she won't be left in a lurch if and when it happens.

But okay, if you want a more apt comparison then most women don't "spermjack" or trap a man with a pregnancy, and I'd argue that this is pretty malicious behavior. It's also one men would do well to protect themselves against. Same with false rape accusations, etc.

Sure. But this isn't the norm and is a disaster scenario. And getting a basic job isnt exactly hard.

In all seriousness, I saw these things happen in my own family and in the families of my friends growing up. Job loss and disability are not some wildly uncommon occurrence.

"Getting a basic job" isn't hard but it's also not a solution to a financial catastrophe. She's not going to pay the mortgage and keep herself and her children afloat making minimum wage at the diner. And keep in mind that the vast majority of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and have less than $5000 in savings; most families can't afford to live on one income even if they wanted to.

I get the impression from your comments here that you've never really dealt with much financial hardship. I grew up poor and I know what it's like, so you'll forgive me if I want to take every possible measure to ensure I never end up in that situation again.

I mean, I don't know about the women you know, but personally my happiness is intrinsically tied to my financial independence. And it's not because I don't trust my fiance or I don't value myself without money, it's because it's nice to have that peace of mind. Like if my fiance ever gets sick or loses his job, I can take care of us along with our six month savings safety net. Or worse, if he dies young after we have kids, I know I'll be able to support our future children.

Sure, less worrisome and stressful. Regardless of the fact that we have plenty of social safety nets, especially for women.

It's not expecting women to be men, it's just expecting that they could survive on their own like adults.

Why should women ever be alone? They should either be with their man or family.

The bigger problem currently is the large number of women without a family support structure forcing them to be more self reliant.

You seem to think I'm some type of woman that I'm not. I don't require people to dance for my amusement. I just want a companion to join me on my adventures in life whether that be climbing, hiking, camping, movies, etc. Do you require your friends to entertain you as well? Do you ditch them if you get bored?

But for some the effort and risk makes them not even want to try. It's easy to avoid pain and stay comfortable in a box but miserable over risking pain but also a chance at having a life you want.

I work out 3 times a week to the point of exhaustion where I can barely walk down the stairs so I might be attractive. Have different expectations for different things, time.

Friends are not romantic relationships.

These are masculine expectation, not sure if you realize that? Expecting your companion to join you on your life adventures(as opposed to the other way around).

Most men have a masculine core, most women have a feminine core, but there is some percentage that's flipped.

So it's not fixed, eh? Again? Why should everyone aspire to appear feminine of masculine? Again, people need to aspire to be happy. If you're aspiring to be feminine, masculine, androgynous or whatever simply because you have this idea of how it's supposed to be and not because it makes you happy, you're setting yourself for unhappiness.

Most people have the same goals for happiness in Western society. Men want to succeed in their career, attract a woman they're sexually attracted to, have a family. Masculine men have the highest success in all these goals.

Women pretty much same thing, most women want children and family and so need to be able to attract a sexually attractive man. Feminine women have the highest success in these goals too.

If a woman doesn't want family and just wants career, she can focus on her masculinity highly and minimally on feminine skills mainly for people and emotional understanding.

There's no real place for a feminine man, even stay at home dads require sufficient masculinity to be sexually attractive and be a trophy husband.

I mean, OK. If you're a woman, and you feel that your romantic life is all fucked up and you don't know how to fix it then sure, I'm not going to say 'don't read this terrible book.' But these books just feel like they're aimed at the female version of the dudes who just don't get it for whatever reason. Most people, male and female, know that men like feminine women and women like masculine men.

I mean, being receptive to rougher masculine energy? What straight women aren't receptive to that? Sure, i get that there are going to be a few but that stuff just seems mostly automatic. Someone made a comment here that got removed re: men causing women to submit through the power of raw masculinity. A joke comment. But ... that's actually how it works. Maybe not as cartoonishly as that, but that is how it is.

Most women don't need to read books about being soft, feminine and receptive in the face of rougher male energy because that's just how we naturally (and unconsciously, this isn't a thought-out process) react to it. Just like most men don't need to read books pointing out the fact that women like masculine men.

And hey, if you're a woman and you don't react that way - 100% cool. Why should someone who doesn't go all soft and giggly in the face of a manly man force herself to? No reason that I can see.

Well so what? I think the vast majority of human beings understand on a deep, lizard-brainy level that femininity in women and masculinity in men is very attractive. But if they don't, or if they understand it but don't feel it themselves, who cares?

If no women needed this or wanted help, why was the book written?

Many androgynous people don't realize the downsides of being so until they've learned the hard way, nobody warns them, and such bullshit is encouraged.

I do think society also cares about people's happiness and general satisfaction levels too, can't let societal unrest take hold.

I understand that a few women like feminine men, but I'm never going to like feminine men and reading books on how I could go about doing so isn't going to help make it happen.

Well yeah, but now ask why is it okay for society to tell men that being a feminine man is equally good and fine as being a masculine man.

I didn't read surrendered wife but the commentary on RPW a while back turned me off. I mean, it's one thing to submit to your husband but it's another thing when your husband is driving the wrong way to just ignore it.

And a few years ago on RPW they posted a story about how a lady's husband and her went on a boat ride around the world and their daughter got very sick and the whole thing sounded like a disaster and they lauded the lady for submitting to her husband even when their daughter's life was at risk. No.

People hear "submit to your husband" and think it means "blindly obey despite all reasoning and logic".

No it means let him take the lead, and let him be the family leader (family priest but gg everyone goes crazy when you say that) but you still have a say and the kids and your needs and safety should be placed first and foremost.

It doesn't mean let the guy ruin your life and your kids lives.
