After finding this sub a few weeks ago I've had a complete mindset shift. I read the handbook, learned that I am the prize and that I shouldn't be scared to "lose someone" by enforcing my boundaries. FDS isn't just about dating and men though, it is also about leveling up your personality as a whole and working on yourself. Here are some changes I noticed I made after finding this lovely community:

-fashion and posture: I used to be scared of looking nice and put together, but this sub taught me that LVM are less likely to approach women who look confident. I also ruined my previously perfect posture after getting repeatedly catcalled and creeped on by disgusting LVM. However, I fixed my posture again. I can't let the trash get to me.

-I will never approach/chase men again: high school me was that one girl who wasn't scared of anything, so my friends would ask me to go up to boys they liked and ask them for their instagram or phone number. I'd do this shamelessly. I also did it with my ex, I initiated everything but as you can guess that relationship ended. I used to pride myself for having this type of confidence, but I was wrong. Real confidence is not chasing men, or anyone for that matter.

-I am going back to my original self: this sounds strange but here's the thing; my mother preached FDS values my whole childhood, but because I had friends who had different values I felt the pressure to succumb to the pickme mindset. Ladies, I am glad to announce that this won't happen any more. I used to be straightforward with what I wanted, ruthless in my discernment of men and would say exactly what was on my mind. My ex was so sensitive that I had to suppress this part of me, I could not tell him any complaints of mine without his saying "oh so you want to end it?" Looking back I should've said "yes, absolutely" and moved on.

-My education: I've always been hyper focused on school, but I'm making new rules for myself: absolutely no dating until I finish my degree. Also, I will not date any men who do not hold a degree in STEM (this is a personal preference, I am someone who enjoys math jokes and I constantly had to explain them to my ex who did not know basic calculus... It was frustrating and he made me feel stupid for liking math).

  • I stopped wanting to please people: today a guy at my university asked me if I was leaving my library desk as he wanted to take my place, I replied "yes". Instead of hurrying up and packing my stuff quickly as I would've done before "just to be nice", I took my sweet time. I don't owe this random person anything ✨

-I'm never using OLD again. This is self explanatory, it's full of trash but I relied on it when I was lonely. I don't care how lonely I am, I'll read a book instead. I'm meeting my future husband while working on my PhD (in the future), not through a "wyd" text on a dating app.

  • I've learned that HVM do exist, and I should never settle for less.
