there are plenty of non-reds who engage in debate and discussion in good faith; they're not posting in a way that would upset anyone so perhaps it's forgettable to you, but they exist and have plenty to share even if they aren't in agreement with you.

i don't typically say things like this, but given that it's relevant to this subject... you are one of the RPers who frequently attacks other users and slings personal insults rather than actually engaging. i don't remember the last time you posted something relevant to a discussion; it's all jokes and jabs at other people wherever you can get them in. i mean, look at your flair. i don't think other people are the problem in this instance.

Truth is that I try to debate but it feels pointless, especially now that Xem isn't here. I feel like someone says "the sky is green" and I'm like "No it isn't" then he goes "Yes it is" "Look outside" "i see green" "well it's blue with some clouds here" "cite your sources" and where the fuck am I going to find proof of something as common as the sky being blue?

Well, let's go to a recent, popular thread and look at the blue flairs.

Shoup88 seems to be having a civil, intelligent discussions. I haven't read all of her comments, but they don't seem to be insulting TRP, and they seem to have plenty of intellectual content.

Wombatinaburrow make a small, but insightful comment here.

Articokess made a small, joking comment that didn't insult TRP.

I don't know, it looks like this might be a case of confirmation bias.

Then there's the part where NONE of you take responsibility for what that means. That means you think

A) fat people are objectively inferior

B) Women are are objectively inferior (misogyny, but woops I can't say that because that will hurt your feelings because that sounds...presumptuous hmmm?)

C) Lesbians are objectively inferior

What debate do you expect to have, to be honest, when the debate always boils down to

RP: "How can I remove all humanity from women while insisting that's not what I'm doing?"

BP: "How can I show them that they are removing humanity from all women while still keeping on topic as they throw whatboutism with feminism around in an attempt to derail the real issue at hand?"

Everyone else: "Why the fuck do you even GO there?"

You can pretend it's all about debating sexual strategy. You can pretend it's all about sticking up for the rights of men and women and how they intersect. You can pretend it's about clarifying RP principles.

It's a debate on whether women are human. It always has been. And RPers inherently believe that they aren't. There's no debate TO be had when everything feminine is an insult to you guys.

I call you a pussy? You get angry.

I say you're dick is tiny? You get angry.

I tell you to put your vagina back in your skirt? You get angry.

I call you a cuck? You get angry.

Everything feminine is painted as bad simply by looking at the insults you throw at us.

IRL there is no debate. Women make up half the population. What makes you think you can just remove that whole half from its position as human?

The loudest and more unreasonable voices are always going to be the most memorable. You're more likely to mentally note a username and flair if the person is attacking you or saying something ridiculous.

I've noticed people are more likely to engage when they strongly disagree with someone. A lot of people here aren't looking for meaningful debate - theyre looking for a fight. If you want rational discussion, make an effort to engage the more moderate viewpoints.

Disagree. Those who actually stay for a while tend to be more moderate than those who don't. Sure, there are a few who make a lot of questionable posts, but I'd say most people who want a rational debate are still here and it's actually the ones who think they have some new perspective that will change all of our minds that flame out quickly.

I don't have infinite patience. I've posted extensively on alternative methods that didn't also offended a large majority of women. Life is a long numbers game, not being an ass has gotten me laid years after the original contact. Where as acting TRP would most certainly have not.

After a certain amount of time I'm just going to mock you for your failings if you refuse advice to correct them..

I understand why people get upset, it's not like there aren't personalities on both sides that are just here to start fights.

Personally I don't see the point in being aggressive though, it's counter productive to gaining an understanding of people's motivations for their behaviour and beliefs, which is why I come here in the first place. Getting people mad is just going to make them defensive so you can never really get into their heads.

Or, in the spirit of inflammatory bloopery behaviour, I'm Jane Goodall and you are the apes; I've got to gain your trust before I can get a good grasp on where you're coming from.

I find that the majority of my contributions have been civil more often than not.

On the other hand, last time I engaged in a back and forth with someone that resolved itself amicably, I was downvoted into oblivion, despite the "no downvoting" rule.

So that's nice.

I was on this sub about a year ago and just now started browsing it again. I'm actually seeing way less nastiness and petty bickering now than when I was on here last year. There probably are some BPers who aren't interested in honest discussion but I think there are likely to be RPers for whom the same is true. There are always some people who simply won't budge in ideological confrontations, it's not really fair to act like it's all coming from just one side.
